Thank you; just looked up the mobile hunter expo and it's Aug 8-10 in Dalton GA - which is only 90 min from me. NWTF is Feb 12-16.
You should ask a lot of questions and try on as many saddles as you can. There will be things you cannot test at a show but fit, how it feels when you walk around, what it feels like in the position on a platform etc. One thing I found after i purchased mine was that some saddles need suspenders if you have any weight in the pouches. I bought some off amazon because it is a PITA to try and walk with the saddle saggin and draggin. Also whether you can walk with the leg straps tightened or off. Saddle hunting is fun and allows for you to basically get in any tree you want to get in.

The thing that helped me the most comfort wise is putting two squirrel steps on the strap for my platform. This allows you to straddle the tree which for me is much more comfortable, plus helps not get picked off as much as when i lean imo.
Tried to google squirrel steps and can't find anything. Got a link to what those are?

if I had one I would.

these but used in conjunction with my platform, on the same strap that holds my platform on each side
Did those for awhile. Finally decided my best best was to leave up hang on stands and use those as platforms. Had a few lying around so it wasn't a big deal. Also usually hunt in the same spots due to funnels and food. Still had my small platform if I wanted somewhere new. I found that I tinker a lot with saddle hunting but enjoyed it. Wish my shoulder wasn't jacked up...

Yeah im guilty of tinkering too. Thats part of the fun though for sure 🤣

I just can't get comfortable enough to sit still. When I'm sitting I'm at rest… when I'm in the saddle it's like I'm constantly working to hold myself off the tree that my tether is pulling me into. I find myself talking me into getting down earlier than in normally would because I'm fatigued and restless. I still use it a bit, but in probably 45% climber, 45% hang on, and 10% saddle. I like to take my saddle when I'm exploring because it's an easy pack in and I can get in any tree. If I know the tree I'm going to or even the exact area I'm targeting, I'm taking one of the stands

I bought my Cruzr XC saddle 2 years ago I think and never tried it until this past weekend other than in the yard. Some things I like and some things I don't so looking for advice.

1. How do you carry sticks and platform up the tree?
2. I normally carry my coveralls in and then put them on once in the tree and cooled down. The way the bridge is I can't do that and zip them closed.
3. My sticks are tethrd skeletors. Is there a modification for a quicker way to lock them down to the tree? The way they are works fine just wondering if there's a way to make it quicker.
4. I move around more than when I'm in a climber or ladder stand. I sat with knees in the tree and then that gets uncomfortable so I stood for a bit. Doing this over and over creates more movement. Is this normal?
5. Back band is necessary. Didn't use it the first day but did the second day and it's worth it.
6. Do you stay connected not only by the bridge but also the lineman's rope at all times?

Maybe this isn't for me but don't want to throw the towel in just yet if there are tips that make sense to try.
Catman outdoors on YouTube has a good video explaining his setup how he carries stuff
