I need to know the correct way to sell a hand gun here on ten deer. Don't want LE to come knocking on my door later. Any info is appreciated.

I'm pretty sure that the age for someone to purchase a handgun in TN is 21, and they must be 18 to possess one.
But, I'll let the FFL experts confirm.
To cover yourself, probably not a bad idea for you to have them sign a statement for your records that they are legal to possess a firearm.
Don't:
A) ship it or
B) sell across state lines or
C) sell to a known felon or
D) sell to someone who knowingly intends to use it in the commission of a crime or
E) buy or sell for someone who intends to transfer to someone who is (C) or (D) above

This. I was not trying to be an ass in my response. This is mostly common sense.
I don't care for bill of sales or any paper trail on a private buy/sell. It is totally nanny state stuff that has no business in two free men buying and Selling a commodity. Why complicate it?
Trust your gut. If someone is sketchy, walk away.

Almost my same advice with an addition: Verify same state residence with non expired, government issued identification. This goes for handguns and long guns.

You could always offer to meet the person at a local gun store and pay for their background check if you're really feeling off about it.
thisMost, is not all…the guys on here are "vetted". Like Yota said, trust your gut. I've never met ONE guy during a deal that isn't top notch and I've met close to a hundred of these Knuckleheads.

Ask them who they voted for. I wouldn't sell to a Democrat if my life depended on it. They vote anti-gun so screw them.

1. It's a felony to sell a firearm to a resident of another state without going through an FFL.
2. They need to be 18 if it's a private sale in TN, or 21 if it goes through an FFL. (for a handgun)
3. You can't sell to someone that you know is a convicted felon. For this to be a violation the law requires that you knew or should have known.

You can mail a long gun in Tennessee to another in state resident.
