Several things were very clear last night watching the Vols

1. They have a lot of talent
2. They are very undisciplined
3. They are poorly coached
4. They don't react well to adversity
5. Hurd is 80% of their offense

I saw so many things that reminded me of Mike DuBose or even Ron Zook. The fact Butch used a timeout to try and give replay longer to process, I knew there was a problem.

The ejected player carrying on for 5 minutes without a single coach going over to shut it down...wow, just wow.

1. Yes they are very talented.
2. They were undisciplined last night but that is not the norm usually.
3. Very well may be.
4. Looked dazed after some adversity but got the win so you could say the got past the adversity.
5. Hurd is a large portion of their offense.


Not really sure what you mean by Maybin going on for five minutes. He stood on the sideline and waited on the call from the refs. He was trying to get the crowd fired back up when he went to the locker room. Thats all I saw.

I think he was just emotional trying to fire up fans. They definetly didn't impress me. I blame pretty much all lack of effort on coaches, it had better greatly improve this week

Didn't have a problem at all with Maybin pumping up the fans while walking out. his a senior, a good kid not many home vol games left in his career. got kicked for making a hard hit. guy never waived fair catch if you watch the replay maybin slows down allows him to catch ball tuck it in chest before hit. it is what it is I don't think anyone had a problem at all with the way Maybin walked off.

Hurd is a big part of offense Thought they should have tried a few more 7 to 10 yard passes they seemed to work when they would call them. I believe if CBJ wants to stay in Knoxville he better find a new OC play calls way to predicable. its hurd up the gut, hurd up the gut, quick screen of some kind. for the last 2 years.

yes they did look poorly coached in that game.

Dobbs should have had 3 turnover alone. getting pressure throwing the ball up for grabs like a true freshmen, He had like 4 good plays the entire game

vols looked bad week 1 last year as well over 550 yards to bowling green, and 30pts bounced back alright after that game, people thought the season was over as well.

guess we will see what they look like next Saturday, season his not dead yet.

Id say they will have tough week of practice,they definitely have a lot to work on.

He called for the fair catch. Not much, but it was there.

Im fine with the call and the ejection. There was somewhat of a fair catch called and Maybin was definately in his space when trying to catch it. Looked like a hard football hit to me with some helmet contact. I realize they are trying to eliminate the helmet to helmet so im fine with that.


But cur, you really think Maybin was acting poorly after the play? I dont see it.

Dobbs was a bit of an "X" factor for coaches last Fall and UT benefited from that fact, but if you look at his body of work it is obvious he is limited as a QB.

His pocket instincts are not strong and he takes a lot of bad sacks, and when he isn't taking the bad sacks he avoids doing so by throwing the ball up for grabs downfield.

He does not read defenses well. He hit the one TD on a deep solo route where the WR just got behind the DB. He may have made a couple of other completions where he threw the ball downfield as he went through his progressions, but if it was more than twice, I don't remember them.

But with all the hype, etc., they are stuck with him at QB. That game v. UF is going to be VERY interesting.
