Sewn eye tether?

I'm going trough all my saddle setup and wondered about this. I swapped out the factory 8mm tether line for an 11mm one and had an overhand knot for the loop but it's bulky and knots are weak. From what info I can gather a sewn eye is much stronger than a knot so I was gonna get a spool of 65 or 80 lbs braid and sew the crap out of it for the loop. I'm also gonna sew it with a heavy nylon thread so I'm not depending on 1 thing to hold the loop. Any thoughts on this?
Here's a formula I found if it's right; Thread strength (65) x number of stiches (200) x 1.5 (cause it's doubled) = 19,500 lbs so the rope is long broken.

Dont do it! If moneys that tight i will buy you one brother!!! Dont want you falling twenty feet due to faulty stitching!!! Seriously pm me and address

Is the knot weakening the line worse? I just had an overhand knot for the loop, would some other kind be better?

If you're putting the end of your tether through the loop I'm not sure of a knot that won't eventually close on itself. I use a scaffold knot tied onto a oval quick link, and a tether locker to keep it in place and from sliding down the tree.

While studying the sewing thing I started thinking about the aggravation of the loop dropping and getting slack in it, that was something that needed an answer. So here we go. A wrap around the tether and it's tight. It has nothing to do with the strength of the tether, it's just a stay put thing.

After thinking about it I decided I trust my own work more than a Chinese sweatshop. I've got 300 stitches of 50 lbs spider wire doubled, so 100 lbs. By the formula I found that's 45k right now. I'm gonna finish with .08 nylon over this so I have 2 types of thread in separate sewings as a buffer.

When it comes to the lines you trust your life to, buy something made by pros. The only thing I ever bothered to "make" was a lineman's belt which is pretty basic. Wouldn't recommend making a tether. They are like $30. Worth it.

Atta boy. That's what I would do. Like you, it beats a Chinese sweat shop

Choosing a Chinese sweat shop version is just that, a CHOICE. Cruzr makes everything right here in Cookeville and it's good quality. I think their lower end rope is $59 but yall do you. Always baffled at folks who ask for advice and then do the total opposite. If you wanted an echo chamber you should've said that.

I was just being smart. I don't saddle hunt and don't have a clue as to what he is talking about. But his pick showed some hand sticking and I think his ingenuity is is good.

Might be worth wrapping some paracord or other type of cord around it also to take the initial pulling
