I got both of these rifles in November if I remember right and have been chomping at the bit to shoot 'em but something else always crept up on me and I had to put it off. But, today was the day and they did not disappoint. And I even named them. The one with sling studs is my 541 Stud and the one without is my 541 Slick
So, I had previously optically centered the crosshair in each scope, even the little Leupold 4x that was on the Stud when I got it since I didn't know if it was sighted in or not. My ammo of choice today was SK Standard+ and it did not disappoint.
I shot the Stud first and had the target set at 30 yards since the scope is only 4x. After a few shots to zero, this is what 6 shots at 30 yards look like...
Easily minute of squirrel head at 30 yards. The trigger on this one is stiff so I retired it for the day and will remedy the trigger soon.
Then I got Slick out of its case and set her up to shoot.
Since the scope is a Leupold 2x7x33 I moved the target to 50 yards for Slick. She did not disappoint. And I only had to add some elevation as the windage was dead center from previously setting the crosshair at optical center. Just got lucky there.
This is what 6 shots of SK Standard+ look like at 50 yards......She shot better than the Stud but the trigger is noticeably better and that's where I put the credit.
LOVE these rifles and with a little tinkering I'll get a little more accuracy out of 'em. Gotta get a 3x9 glossy Leupold for the Stud and maybe for Slick as well.
Side note......... I had the CZ 457 MTR along for the ride and it did not like me. I reckon it's jealous of the Remingtons. Today's performance with it at 100 yards was dreadful. I shot SK Standard+ and Lapua Midas+. By far my worst day out with it. And no pictures of just how bad it was. It was THAT bad.
