That 550-1 is a great Remington rifle from back in the day. I never fully understood the floating chamber thing but I've seen some of those that are very accurate and reliable. My Dad had one when I was a kid but something was wrong with it action springs behind the bolt. He never got it fixed and I don't know what became of it.

Wow, a 550-1 just like yours was my very first gun. My brother bought it for me when I was 13, it was a squirrels nightmare. Man, I wish I still had it.
