Just passing along observations. I always have been and still am a fan of TH 125s. I tried Slick Tricks (125 grain, 1 1/8 cut) this year on two deer in KY: one big mature 8 in velvet and one doe yesterday.
The buck was at about 22 yards quartering I hit him and exited off side on last rib. The arrow did not exit as the very steep blade angle appeared to keep the arrow from exiting on that last rib. In that case, I think a TH125 would have exited, based on similar shots. The doe I shot at 10 yards from about 24 feet high. I hit it high in part of the shoulder and the arrow buried up in the opposite front leg joint. The deer was dead in less than 5 seconds. The arrow did not exit but it did encounter major bone and the broadhead was perfect. I only pull about 68 lbs with a 27+ inch draw length so my kinectic energy is not as great as many others. I will probably stay with TH125s to increase odds of exit which greatly speeds up recovery and trailing. Any thoughts?
