It was a off day as I've been hearing a ton of gobbling only heard 5 birds by noon. I went up the right side of the place because I had heard all those there Saturday. Wouldn't you know bumped one off roost. Finally got a gobble and guess where at Yep the left side. Another bird gobbled right about that time above me. I was pinned I couldn't get where I needed to be because he was roosted on the log road. I wanted to make a move up a steep bank but I was afraid climbing over the tree tops he would hear me.
I done some soft tree calling he answered 3 times and so did the other bird at least 50 times. By 6:15 I was talking myself into leaving this bird and head to the other one when I saw him full strut 100 yards off coming over the hill. He hung up on a log across the road about 70 yards out. He went back up top and out another log road so I thought, that's where I was wanting to set up at originally. It ran parallel with me just above me though. I swear I heard him drumming. I give him 10 minutes and make my move. We had cleared out a small area with the dozer 5 years ago and it has a good stand of grass. I figured I could get across the log road up top and set up there. Eased up he ain't in the road so I am thinking this is going to work I'll set up in the clearing and call him right back. Got to the clearing can't see him this is perfect. Then I got to a tree and there he stood 25 yards full strut. He turned and saw me as I stood still we both had an oh crap look on our faces. Wouldn't shoot him like that so I watched him drop over the hill.
Oh well it was fun yet again.

By now I'm up top so I can hear better.
Another bird was cranked up where I didn't shoot the bird at Saturday. On my way to him which took 20 minutes of walking out of nowhere the dadgumdest noise above me crash crash crash THUD! A Bobcat falls out of the tree I had just walked under with a squirrel in its mouth. Lands no more than 10 yards away. We both froze and stared at each other. I told him don't bother me and I won't bother him lol. I needed some new drawers now. I eased on towards that other one but he had hushed. I hung around till 12 waiting and calling off and on but never got an answer. I had a good time regardless. Looking forward to Saturday to see how they act again a week later.
