Food Plots Surprise rain

Got a little over 1/2" last night that wasn't forecasted. Very thankful for it; as it should provide a good boost. Wish I had seen it forecasted, as I would've spread some fertilizer yesterday. Regardless, very happy how my plots are looking. A month ago wasn't sure I'd have any food plots this year.

Wow, nice!

But I'm not wasting a penny on fertilizer for plots this fall. It's rained 2 days in 12 weeks on my places. .5in early Sept, and 4 in with Helene. Plots are BONE dry and struggling

It was misting a little on and off here yesterday afternoon. Could definitely use a little more rain here.

Sadly, I'm not seeing anything solid rain-wise in the models out to 15 days. Maybe, and I stress "maybe," something in the last week of October.

Maybe, just maybe, some rain right around Halloween. Two of the three major models (European and Canadian) are showing a good rain around Oct 30 - Nov 1. Th GFS (American model) doesn't agree. It has nothing out 15-days.

That Halloween rain is still in the forecast, and now all three models have it.

I just wish we could get a good morning dew. Our plots are about gone after looking great...

With the amount of thatch I have down on my plots, they are hanging in there. The plants have gone dormant (clover has closed up its leaves), but nothing is crunchy dry yet.

But a couple more weeks without rain and plants will start to die.
