TN-KY Line opened at KY -5,

I wonder where UT would be record wise if Beldar Jermy Gump was still there?

Please ... just ... stop. Thinking of one more season of JG almost makes me sick.

It's amazing how good a team can look with a QB that puts the ball in a place that the WR actually has a chance to make the catch. Remember a lot of JGs down field passes, were actually 50-50, thrown up for grabs, and our WRS were actually able to steal some of them.

For awhile we did have Milton doing a pretty good impression of JG.

As for game winning plays, I don't think that there is a single play that you can point to in this game and say "that's what won them the game". There's just too many single plays that affected the game. The FG to end the half was big, but so was the pick-6. The shoestring tackle at the very end that kept them from getting a first down and into possible FG range was huge. If any one of those or so many more don't happen, then TN loses.

To me, the drive before the half was the most important of the game and showed the confidence of our coach. 17 seconds and we drive it down the field and kick a field goal. Not sure many coaches would truly have that confidence
Most of them take a knee. If I was the AD I'd fire them in the locker room at halftime. You are going to take a knee? With the ball and an opportunity to score??? Not on my watch.

So true!
Those passes last from both teams were awesome! JG would still be a 5 th year third sting QB to Hooker & LEVIS!

I didn't get Kentucky burning their time outs at the end of the game... it wouldn't or couldn't change the outcome of the game that was basically over.
Well true, but then again you never know especially with your victory formation run out of the shotgun.
I caught the end of that Cincy game against Tulsa and Cincy tried to give that game away.

Tulsa's coach is a disgrace. He has it 1st and goal from the 3 and runs the ball 4 times FROM THE SHOTGUN!!! Why make your RB carry the ball an extra 5 or 6 yards when you're on the 3??? I get the shotgun formation in most situations but some of these coaches have lost their minds. Put the QB under center. You have 4 plays to go 3 yards. If your OL can't get that done you deserve to lose.

Don't look for tn to go under center in the same circumstance. Heupel has already addressed it

Not taking anything away from Hooker and the talk, But that missed face mask call when Ky was driving for the tie or go ahead score and was a big no call. Instead of having the ball on the UT 33 yards line with three timeouts and a minute to go, they had to cover a 4th and 24, which they did they took them to the 38. 5 yards is a difference maker in converting a field goal
The 4th and 24 was the coaches fault for getting a flag. The team bailed him out with the 1st down. That gave them a chance to win or tie

Go check out the box score of this game. UK dominated in yardage (@600 yards to 400), total plays (2 to 1), ToP (basically double), third down conversions, etc, etc. Someone who didn't know would think UK won by 3 TDs. Except UT basically averaged a first down every play if you ignore the kneel downs (a little over 10 YPP). UT only had 8 third downs and one of those was a kneel down! Crazy.

Didn't see it because I was hunting and cleaning a deer. By the time I started the hour and a half drive back it was in the 3rd quarter so listened to it the rest of the way home. 13 total minutes of offense and put up 45 points is crazy. Lost every category except the one that counts. GBO!!! 🍊

😳🤪😂

I did not hear his reasoning, but I can suppose the reason might be that having the QB under center is not something that we practice very much and he might feel that there is more likelihood of a mistake occurring. The center and QB can probably execute the shotgun snap with their eyes closed, because they have done it hundreds of times.

As far as short-yardage situations, IF you had a strong OL that can get a strong push and/or a bruising RB, then I feel you need to implement that.

If not, giving the QB multiple options based on the defensive alignment/reaction is best. BUT, you are placing your bets on the judgment of your QB rather than the pure physical play of OL, etc. These guys get paid a LOT of money to make those decisions.

Not sound reasoning for anything. Biden, Pelosi, Schumer, etc. get paid a LOT of money to make their decisions. How's that working out for you? Just because someone sees fit to pay you a lot of money to make decisions doesn't mean you're always right. We paid our last coach lots of money too.
