I seem to be getting a lot of very close shots of deer lately that only show their backs or necks and partial head shots. My question is, "Is this a common problem for a camera being mounted to low(or high)? I've moved it a couple of times and seem to get a lot of the same type of pictures.

I get too much of these type of pictures:

You may move it to a tree a little further back, if that is an option. Cams too close to trails can result in the back pics like you are getting. Hillbilly Hunter is right on the doe being nosey. They know the camera is something different, whether they see them or smell them, they often notice them.

Trigger area mounted too high. Lower camera by putting a stick or something behind it.
Or simply mount the camera lower. I have a few camera set-ups where I want the camera pointed down at something on the ground, like a scrape. But most of the time I want the camera shooting out across the ground so I can pick up movement in the background at long distance. I also think most hunters don't realize how short even a mature buck really is. For southern whitetails, few deer stand more than 38" at the top of the shoulder. For a camera mounted at the level of the deer, it should be only about 26-30" off the ground.
