Two best things you can use for trout is a squarebill crankbait. I throw craw and shad patterns. And the other would be a long a bomber. Two colors I throw is bone and rainbow pattern. Lotta people don't believe trout will hit baits like this but you just have to be confident in them. Now I wouldn't suggest throwing them in creeks where the average trout is 8" long. But any sizeable river is just fine.
