A few years ago, the eyes needed some help, so I switched to a fixed 4X shotgun scope on my turkey gun. I was concerned it might be too much for close shots, so I mounted it high so the bead is still an option. That turned out to be a non-issue as I have not had a problem using the scope at close range. Anyway, I'm guessing most people use some sort of red dot these days. So, what's the verdict?

what are you calling a "red dot" vs "hologram". Are you classifying red dot as the scope like options with no magnification and something like a FF3 is a hologram?
Hmmm. I may not fully understand the differences, but here goes. When I say Red Dot, I was thinking of the ones that project just a red dot, like a laser. I've seen some that magnify, and some that don't. What I consider a Hologram are the ones that project a circle that flashes.

My main reason for posting the poll is in April, I am helping TWF with some turkey hunting seminars, and a youth hunt. I'm thinking the red dots are the most common, but looking for some semi-reliable info to share.

hey bud I understand your question. I have really grown to like the dot sights on turkey guns. They are fast and accurate. Regardless of brand all you really have to decide on is sight size, dot size, color and budget. If your looking to get into the "dot" sight you can spend any $ amount you want. It ends up personal preference. I run truglo 5 moa dots on 3 shotguns and a Konus 3 moa on another. The 3 truglos have the option of red and green for color.

Ok, what I consider a REFLEX sight (but called a red dot commonly) is like a burris ff3 or leupold delta point pro. This is much more common on a turkey gun these days.

what I consider a prism or also called a red dot is more like the below.
