To me, and Im sure some people will not like this, but we need zones just like deer.

Also in before someone jumps in here and starts talking about how guys are going to drive from the lower limit areas to the higher limit areas to kill more birds.... Some will, but the # won't be that high. many people don't hunt to mount turkeys, so they are hunting for meat. you don't get that much meat, so driving 2 hours to kill a turkey probably won't happen, as the ends won't justify the means.
I dont have a single mounted turkey in my house but I travel as far as Nebraska to kill a turkey. People will travel 2 hrs for a chance to kill more turkeys.

Also not everyone will be 2 hours away. There will be plenty right in the line that will have no issue driving an hour or less to hunt turkeys. I know I would.

I'm in the same boat. I have in fact drove 2.5 hrs several times this yr to hunt..

Yep and people that lease land in the higher quota counties can expect their leases to go up in price as people in the other counties start offering more to the land owner to give them a place to hunt.
It already happens in my county due to it being unit L and the East TN guys running up the prices for a place to kill more does.
Almost all my competition during deer seaon public ground drive trucks with east tn tags

And don't forget the folks that migrate from the state to our south.

More focus needs to be placed on the supply side of the equation. I'm not 100% sure but feel the decline and rebound (hallelujah!) in my area was largely due to habitat changes and predators and it took years to get it turned around. In other areas maybe it's disease or over-harvest...so until poult production is addressed localized flocks will never grow without something like trap and transfer (which I honestly believe might be needed in some areas that are totally devoid of turkeys).

I agree with this statement and agree with zones within the state. Most of the decline in population, in the areas I hunt, are due to predation and lack of poultry production because of habitat loss/predation. Decreasing the limit would help but not to the extent of increasing the population.

Just my take on W TN hunting is the birds overall have increased especially adult male turkeys this year has been my best year as far as observations of turkeys. I can understand the argument of flooding is reducing the population it needs restricting but based on personal observation it's irrelevant leave it alone
