Tennessee will soon announce the hiring of Purdue coach Jeff Brohm after going 6-6 this year. Brohm was 30-10 at Western Kentucky. Buyout is $5 million, drops to $4 million Dec 5. Still owes Purdue about $750k for leaving WKY.

Wait hold that thought..........they are trying to find a way to screw this up. More after these sponsors.

TMS, in answer to your question would I be good with Schiano as coach of the Buckeyes?

If something happened to Urban early or during this season, Schiano would have been the interim, and yes I'd be "good" with that. When it came to hiring a permanent replacement, yes he would be on the short list of candidates. He's a great recruiter, there haven't been any academic or behavioral issues with his defensive players, and, while I'm not pleased with the play of his LBs this year, he's had top 10 defenses both years he's been OSU DC. Yes he failed at Tampa, but not anymore miserable of an NFL failure than Saban or Spurrier (in fact, Spurrier's failure was epic).

But the fact is, the caliber of coach OSU can attract compared to what UT can attract is night and day. You are asking me to compare apples to oranges. Just looking at the two programs since 2000 (heck, since Woody's first season in 1951) in terms of conference titles, national championships contended for/won, top 10/5 finishes, etc, one is a top 5 program and the other is a top 30 maybe. It's like asking Bama fans would they be "good" with Kiffin after Saban retires and they'd say yes we'd interview him but our target is Swinney.

Wait- Your Kiffin conparison makes zero sense. Kiffin isn't connected to a child rape cover-up accusation. I'd be fine with considering Kiffin with the head coach job after Saban retired. He wouldn't be my first choice, but he did a good job as OC, he just liked to party and clown around a bit much and Saban got tired of it.

:bash:

Please educate everyone. What is your proof that Schiano was "connected to a child rape cover-up"? Is it the same third hand hearsay in a 2015 insurance lawsuit deposition where the deponent said another coach said to him in 2001 what Schiano said to him in 1992? If it's some new evidence you've discovered, by all means call Louis Freeh, the Pennsylvania Attorney General, and the State College, PA district attorney first. Do you even know the purpose for a deposition? Leave the practice of law to me and I'll leave weather forecasting to you.

Im talking about you, personally. Not the caliber of coachea OSU can pull ir the caliber TN can pull. You, personally. Would you be good with him as head coach of your beloved team.

Its sounding like no. You keep defending like you are offended we dont want an OSU coach here.

Context and caliber of program enter into it. I'd certainly take Schiano over Brohm, who I think is a fine coach, but an up and comer. Like I said, I'd have Schiano on a short list of candidates. Is he the greatest coach ever? Of course not. But if he came through the interview process as the guy, then yes I'd happily accept him as the coach of the Buckeyes.

Oh apparently its not actually done yet. Jimmy jumped the gun a bit.

I'm sure everyone has seen that Mississippi State is hiring a coach with a Penn State association whose only college head coaching experience is the HC for Fordham. Fordham? A Northeast Yankee in Starkville? Oh that's right. Mullen was also a Yankee. I think the Bulldogs made a wise decision. They got a good one who will have that team flying with all the talent Mullen has left for him.

You get to keep Schiano. Let it go

You asked the question. I gave you my answer.

I'm pretty sure I'm about to get banned for speaking the uncomfortable truth so you all will get your wish.

Told by both sides that no deal is in place between Tennessee and Purdue's Jeff Brohm and not close to being done at this point, although there have been discussions.

They need to suspend Hymans internet access :rotf:

He is connected through that deposition you cited. It may not be true, but it is a connection period. Think of it this way, if a daycare had a worker accused of molesting children, and that worker was prosecuted. If there were allegations that other workers might have knew of the molestation, even with no solid proof, would you send your children to the daycare where the alleged workers were employed?

Right/wrong/fair or unfair Schiano is connected to a child rape cover-up. (he also isn't qualified to be a major school Div 1 Head Coach)

Heads will Spin if Moorhead sees some success at Mississippi State and some others don't. Ditto if Schiano lands a gig and he does well.

Are any other schools dumb enough to consider Schiano?

Malzhan was coaching HS and landed at Arkansas St for a year then was OC at Auburn for a two years then became HC coach. First year almost won a NC. So don't get fooled by Chad Morris being a HIgh School coach in 2010. He is a great offensive mind. Similar to Frost and Norvell.
