Made a conscious effort to go big or go home on trout as I made my game plan last night. Headed out into the gulf to some artificial rock reefs since winds were fairly calm. Threw topwater up against the reefs, hooked up 2nd cast. Got him to the boat, got a good look at him, then line broke... est 23in speck, would have been my PB. Got another lure out, then saw my lure floating! Retrieved it, retied, and ground out 10 specks between 17 and 21in. Ripped the hooks out on another 4 horsing them away from structure, and had another 7 or 7 big blow ups that didn't stick. Kept 6 19.75in and under, then headed back in for reds. Tide way higher, so unable to sightish well, but spotted 10 or 11, and got 5 to bite. Kept 2 and a flounder as well. Lots of blue crabs riding the outgoing tide, so I helped myself.
Stopped by the docks on the way home and they were just unloading from the night before. Filled up my 3rd cooler with 16/20 CT shrimp for $2 per lb..
I'm stuffed, exhausted, but content.
