Velvet

This is our best one we have this year. He was a nice 3.5 yo 125 in last year, we passed him up. Pics are deceiving, he is only 135in this year as a 4.5yo. Not big enough to want to shoot in velvet.

We had a bad year last year as most of our top end young bucks were killed by neighbors, so not expecting to have a velvet buck to hunt this year. LOTS of mature 115 to 125in bucks, but those aren't velvet bucks to kill to me.
Nice buck but he is awful poor in body condition
Just a 4.5yo feeding on weeds in fescue pastures. The does have the good foods right now. He will blow up come November.

Interesting. I've noticed on my place that the oldest bucks aren't displaying the body shape/size I would expect for their age.

I only have deer i can consider are 3.5 so far. They are pretty lean and look to have alot lf leg under them. Allso the rumps ae higher than their shouldere. Mature bucks should show soon

That angle makes him look like a Booner lol

I've never had this happen before but a dang steer has gotten out from someone's fencing and has made his new abode right in the middle of my target bucks bedding area…the steer has been there for 6 days now. A week ago the buck I'm wanting to hunt was in there all hours of the day since the steer showed up I haven't seen him once…smdh
