Weird Schtuff???

I almost lost my son one night. He fell asleep (fortunately he was hunting on the ground) and he's a very heavy sleeper.

Ever try to find a sleeping 12 year old that's fully dressed in camo, in early season, after dark? I didn't know exactly where he was hunting, only the general area, so I walked around yelling his name for several minutes before he popped up about 10 yards from me, looking rather scared.

I killed my first deer/doe ever when i wasn't hunting to far off of a county road. She was like 12 yards from the tree, straigt down shot. I drilled her and she ran right out into the rd. the ditch was kind of high so when she jumped out into the road she just piled up when she hit the street. Thank god that no cars came before I got there to drag her out of the dang street.

I just thought of this one.

Up in Manitoba, early Sept. Lots of bears still active. I have a doe permit and have been instructed to kill a doe. Early afternoon, maybe 5:30, I shoot a doe. She runs 20 yards and drops in the field. All is good.

7:30, comes a bear. A really nice chocolate bear of about 400 pounds. I do not have a bear tag. Bear begins to eat doe. Bear eats a lot of the doe, then drags her into the bush...in exactly the same way I have to leave the stand to get to the 4X.

Sundown. I hit the radio. I explain the situation. They, my very good friends, turn the radio off. I don't believe I have ever left the woods so quickly.

I was sitting on a small knoll back in 2000 in southern Michigan...slug hunting deer on a 136 acre private farm. I heard a noise to my left and when I looked over there a large 8 point came to stop in a brush thicket. I could, or thought I could, see his vitals broadside as well as his upper body, rack, etc. My Remington had no scope but the buck was only 30 yards away. I shot him right behind the shoulder and all heck broke loose. Must have been four deer there including that buck. As it turns out the broadside I thought was the bucks was the side of a doe standing in front of him with her head behind a tree. We were pretty shocked when we tracked it down. Good backstraps though! Have no idea what happened to the buck.
