I have had a pair of Danner snake boots for years and have enjoyed them, but they have reached the end of their useful life. I hunt in the river bottoms for swamp turkeys a lot, but also have some dry ground farms. The snake boots were tall enough to be serviceable in wet areas but were comfortable enough for days with lots of walking dry areas. But, they weren't as good as knee boots in water and not as good as hiking boots on dry ground. Thinking about getting a decent pair of ankle high wayerproof hiking boots for dry ground and just wear muck boots when I go to wet areas.

What do you wear?

I've had several snake boots. I've had bass pro and cables brands, I've had danners, and now I have Irish setter vapretek.

All extremely comfortable, all very light, none very water proof like they say. I just suck it up, and bring two or three pair of socks.

Danner is what I like. A normal size hiking type boot that's waterproof. Very light as well

Same thing I wear to work or deer hunting, red wing work boots, and occasionally croc flip flops

Chippewa...and I love'em (never said that about a snakeboot and I've gone through a bunch).

Chippewa snake boot light weight and very comfortable

What style do you guys wear? The camo "clover"? I'm seriously considering a pair but I'm concerned about getting them wet.

Irish setter vapor snake boots
I haven't tried the snake boots but I wore the 8" Vaprtrek and they were trash. Wore em out in less than a year. They became work shoes and that did them in even quicker. Nice light weight boot but not worth the $160 I paid for them.

Danner snake boots for me. I want a pair of rubber bottom snake boots if I can find one that will fit. I tried a pair of Muck snake boots which I really liked, but thick calves made for too tight of a fit.

Spur,
I have the 17" pull on type...leather bottom and heavy cordura top with short buckles around the calf and across the upper arch. Brand new out of the box I mink oiled the heck out of the lowers and any leather components like straps and trim. Once a year I hit them with a little silicone spray. Camp Dry spray I think.

Heavy dew is no problem and high creek crossing also no issue whatsoever. For the last few years my feet just plain aint got wet.

Danner snake for hill country, Mucks for bottom hunts and uninsulated hip boots for swamp hunting.

Lacrosse alpha lite maybe, I think that's what they are called. I wear them if I'm hunting around creeks and when the hay gets tall toward the end of the season. If I know I won't be around and water, I got a pair of Rocky Wildcats I will wear. I wish I could find a new pair of those.
