What did you do today in the reloading room?

I did some load development today with H4350, 90 gr Sierra Tipped GameKings, and 95 gr SST's for my 243 Winchester. Basically I would load 3, shoot them on my back porch range, and come back inside because it's cold šŸ„¶ šŸ˜‚. This rifle just isn't stabilizing the long sleek Sierra Tipped GameKings I don't believe, best I could get with several different recipes was 1.7" at 100 yards. The 95 SST was a different story, 0.46" at 100 šŸ¤© I don't think I want to actually hunt that bullet though so I may keep testing. I'm guessing it will not have very good weight retention with a max load and a bullet designed for shock anyway. That's just the two 6mm bullets I had on hand. View attachment 262624

The Grand Slam may be worth trying: https://www.midsouthshooterssupply....eter-100-grain-soft-point-grand-slam-50-count

I use the 80 ttsx, 80 gmx, and 95 NBT in my slower twist 243 win. My model 7 won't really stabilize the 105's. They don't key hole but 1.5-2" is all it will do.

I do like the grand slam bullets. I'm typically a shoulder shooter for deer. That's just programmed in me, I don't like them running off over the mountain or whatever it may be. I was considering going light and fast like the 80 ttsx or Hornady cx. Just need to get something ordered. I would love to get the 85 makers but they have been out of stock all the time it seems like.

I'm a shoulder breaker as well. I feel that tracking is greatly overrated.

45grs h4350 and the 80ttsx - 3186fps

45grs h4831 and the 80gmx - 3030fps

41.5grs H4350 and the 95 NBT

40grs H4350 and the 87 vmax hits the exact same POI as the gmx load above. I practice with it and have killed everything but deer with it.

Those are the loads I use.

Take a look at the 70gr Hammer Hunter. 3500 fps and a shoulder smasher. They will stabilize in a 10 twist. They are around half inch in my son's Savage Axis.

I got started on a new thing! I resized 100 pieces of Nosler 300 Blackout brass. New brass, new dies. And then realized that when buying up all this new stuff I neglected to buy a Trim gauge. So I ordered that. Once I get them trimmed and primed I have several different bullets to try. I have some 125 grain FMJ, 150 grain SST and 190 grain sub X. As for powder what I have on hand is h110, w296 and I bought a pound of cfe-blk. I have a 10.5 inch barrel pistol as a new toy to play with!

The Barnes 110 Tac-Tx is an awesome bullet. I've shot hogs and a couple does with it. Received my best accuracy with H110.
