I typically carry a Ruger M77 Hawkeye in .270 but lost a cousin last year and inherited a Sako .243 from him that I'll hunt with. Shot it last year and it was dialed in but didn't hunt with it. Hopefully I can get it bloody this year.
That Featherweight is a fine rifle. I love mine.Winchester Featherweight .308 this year. I've many to choose from, but I'm not shooting anything that's not readily available ammo wise. I'll save those. 308 is available.
They are very good bullets.
I shoot 300gr Hammers in one of my 40cal sml's at 3000fps. They are the real deal. Shoulder shot a buck a couple years ago around 200yds. It destroyed both shoulders and blew the sternum out the front. At high velocity they work like a partition. The front end explodes and the rear 2/3 keep on goingI am gonna try some hammer bullets this year. Very interested to see how they do.
Its a special rifle to me. Im assuming an 80's model. That Featherweight is a fine rifle. I love mine.
