...and apparently there aren't many that are really great at football.

I was looking at the top 10 recruiting classes at the above link and I couldn't help but notice something. Other than a few offensive linemen and an occasional QB, big time college football is a black man's game. It appears that around 95% of the recruits in the top 10 classes are black kids. It's really pretty amazing when you think about it. The first black player to ever play for Alabama was John Mitchell in 1971. Fast forward 44 years and now almost the entire Alabama roster is black. The SEC is almost an all-black league. Right now Notre Dame has 22 recruits and only 3 of them are white kids. It's even more amazing when you consider there are a lot more white kids in high school than black kids.

I hope no one perceives this to be a racist post. It's really just an observation about the huge changes in the demographics of college football teams over the last 50 years. It makes me wonder - are all the white boys playing soccer and video games?

I think there's something to your last sentence. My son plays baseball and basketball. All his friends play those sports and/or soccer, lacrosse, golf. He's 8. Don't know of any of his friends playing football. Lots playing soccer. Too many playing apps and Xbox.
 
I can vouch for parents not allowing their sons to play football because of the head injuries.

Ironically, football is an expensive sport for schools and leagues relative to some of the others. Even so, it's still the sport here in suburban Nashville but sports like baseball, lacrosse, soccer and hockey are also very popular.
 
College football is based on speed. Go to any track meet. All the sprinters are black. Look at the WR's and DB's in the Nfl. All black. Remember Jason Sehorn and the big deal about him being the only white CB in the Nfl? Blacks are faster than whites. I'm sure some thin skinned liberal will say that's racist but it's not. It's just a fact.

10 out of the 11 offensive starters for the superbowl champion New England Patriots are white= exception Lagarrette Blount. 3 white receivers for the Patriots caught TD's in the Superbowl- Growk, Edelman, Amendola. Just food for thought

Believe what you want. I do not watch the NFL at all. I did not watch one minute of the stupor bowl. Why would I deny it? I'm in the minority. I know most men spend their Sundays on the couch watching the idiot box. As a matter of fact the only college game where I can sit and watch every play is a Tennessee game. I'm just not much of a tv watcher. But, everyone knows the nfl is predominantly black.

That is very interesting. I didn't watch the stupor bowl but I had absolutely no idea there was an offense with 10 whites. I'm betting that's an anomaly. You can't dispute the numbers in ALL of college football and ALL the nfl with one microcosm. Just go to any track meet. All the white sprinters will be hanging out with mermaids and unicorns.
 
Best defensive player in the NFL is also white (J.J Watt) plays for Houston, They also have a pro bowl LB Brian Cushing who is white.

Jordy Nelson, Wes welker, And Jason wittin are a few more receivers that are white.(wittin is a TE)

Think about 90'/, of starting QBs in the NFL are white

Think Just about every Punter and Kicker in the NFL is white also lol.
