Who is gonna battle the heat?

private lands only as some people don't realize that. I've had to tell 3 people already over here in east Tn. That's the only reason I even mention it. East Tn is all I know about so check your area to make sure.

I'll be out chasing a couple of good bucks. For some reason the heat hasn't bothered me this year. Got my bow dialed in and just hoping it's not storming. I d love to get a buck this early in the aeason.

I thought they ended that hunt. I have no desire for a velvet animal. Killed a caribou with velvet in AK. What a mess!

I'm in. And here's why!

Did they change the date this year? It's always been the last weekend of August if I remember correctly. I don't think I hunted it last year.

I told my wife specifically many months ago I was not going anywhere this year during velvet season. Guess when she books a trip home to see her family, during velvet season! 🤮🤦‍♂️ I'm gonna be in the doghouse boys, I'm not going. I've got a buck I've kept track of since 2019 on a 3 day pattern. I'm sitting morning and afternoon for him.

I typically wear short sleeves and real thin camo jeans sprayed down with a therma cell.

@JCDEERMAN save me couch to sleep on for when she gets home.
Rip to that buck lol

I was very optimistic about it 2 weeks ago based on the constant pictures I was getting of a bachelor group but either acorns have started dropping or the neighbors went and put out there golden acorns because my food plots have gone bone dry, even the does have gone MIA. Im still going to sit a morning or 2 and see what happens.
I've got acorns on the ground in Monroe county as of last Friday. I also had a doe picking crabapples off the tree for the first time this season. Since then, most the deer I've been watching have vanished, but I did find quite a bit of sign they'd moved into pine stands for some reason, maybe to find shade to escape the heat.

You've got a place to stay anytime 🤣

What heat? Got up here this afternoon and it feels GREAT!

Pulled some cards and scouted.this eve. This 5.5 yo cull is tempting me HARD, as he is on a clockwork pattern staging in a small kill plot with only 2 other bucks 45m before dark. Just not sure I want to spend an extra hour hunting him, then another 1.5h preparing skull and meat after the kill for a cull when I have so much work to do...
