Went to a cookout at my mom's house this afternoon and after we ate we ran down the road to a small place I can hunt, we were there for 20 minutes when a Tom stepped out feeding, I called to him and he got nervous and went into the woods. Then a hen came in to me. Well 15 minutes later the Tom stepped back out and I told my wife forget calling we are going to him, there was a big terrace we got behind and went to him, I popped my head up at 40 yards and told my wife "crawl up here and shoot him, she got into position and and the bird got nervous and started running, I told my wife raise up and shoot, she made a good shot and put him down.

It was an unusually small bird but a good one either way, her second double beard
12.3 pounds

Kudos ma'am!

That is really interesting about his weight; I don't think I've ever heard of a lightweight like that except in the panhandle of Florida maybe. Very neat.

Congrats!

Did you notice anything strange about the meat or bone structure? You think he was just a small bird in general, kinda like Wee Man?
