Will Tn. ever allow straight walled cartridges in MZ?

Any takers?:p
Killed doe during rifle with a 350 legend, ive killed a pile of tn deer with the 350 legend during rifle where it should be used. Ive killed a tractor trailer load of deer with a muzzleloader and hope ive got another trailer load to go with it😂

I don't see the need to change. The deer in TN already get pounded enough for over three months and we can kill two bucks still. Personally I would keep muzz and rifles both out of the entire month of November, I would be game for a traditional open sight muzz to be used in Nov, no different than modern crossbows anymore. Maybe have a week of open scoped muzz first week of Nov when the bucks start chasing a little. Do that after a week of rifle season in mid Oct and then rifles again in Dec until end in first week of Jan. Let youth use a rifle same weekend as the bow opener but make it a week. I know this is an unpopular opinion but let's face it buck age class sucks in most of TN.
So you only use open sights the first week of muzzleloader, or just keep your bow out until December?

Maybe TWRA will restore the 5 day late doe season and call it BPCR season…😎
State wide!

I'm sure that would draw a protest as well..
The older bucks are here in TN, even in East TN, but they are hard to find, and even harder to get a shot at in the hills and hollers.
All the more reason for an extended season imho…

I never liked swatting skeeters while I'm hunting anyway. August & September hunts in Tennessee can be miserable..

As food source's diminish locating those older bucks becomes easier..again imho

Killing them is another story..🤣

No I use what they let me, just no crossbows Or smokeless muzz. But I let three year olds walk. I will agree that once a buck hits four or so they get exponentially harder to kill, I had a four and a nice 5 or 6 year old I was trying to get this year. Did not get either one and had a lot of days out, weapon would not have mattered. We just do not need it easier to kill deer In the rut.

see them every fall. normally on the way to hunt or on the way home in the dark, standing in my headlights... saw one real pretty one last fall during rifle season chasing a doe, but he was out of range of my recurve. no rifles allowed in that area...🦌

My point was more of you want seasons a certain way but you don't abide by them now. And don't take it as me picking on you either. There's several that want certain changes but they don't do them. Personally, I'm all about leaving it as it is. Hunt how you'd like. If you wanna bow hunt all year, by all means do that. I don't bow hunt, mainly because I don't have a place to and I'm generally busy trying to get things done at work before the wet season kicks in. But that doesn't mean I wanna change any of it.

Oh I did not take it that way at all. I take different weapons throughout the year when it is Rifle. I have a couple spots close to houses that I just bow all year also. The last three days I took three different weapons just because, my great uncles savage 99 300 savage, muzz and last day I had my bow. I did see a nice 130 ish 10 on Sunday the last day when I had my bow he walked though at 60 plus and I just got to watch. My only thing is the vulnerability in November with what we are allowed to use now is enough if not to much already. Look at some Midwest states and see what they use in November although some/most have following the easier trend also swapping to straight wall from shotgun only.

Hows it easier? I can kill just as far and just as quick with my savage 220 as i can my 350 legend.

Sure a 350 legend is same trajectory as a 20 gauge sabot slug just with less energy 2200 ish vs 1800ish ( same as a 30/30). Maybe if it was single shot only straight wall. ( Talking muzz vs straight wall which is same as rifled slug gun ) A cartridge gun is just more reliable easier and faster than a muzz period. A 45/70 with 325 Hornady flex tip also shoots flatter than a sabot shotgun load even three inch. If the 350 legend is an AR you have magazine capacity also. Would I take my unscoped Model 94 375 Winchester out if it was straight wall, probably but if I miss I can get repeat shots very fast. Muzz you have to worry about weather and getting other things right and have one shot. I get the argument from all sides on this. Ultimately you cannot control what the next guy is doing whether it is neighbors buddies playing if it is brown it's down every year or a lot of traffic on good public land. Unless you have over 5/600 acres you can only do so much. That and habitat will make or break your deer hunting for mature bucks. Enough rambling I hope everyone had a good year, 8 1/2 months now until we can do it again. Western hunting app season is starting up give it a try if you can!!

Outlaw smokeless muzzleloaders and call it good

Those can be used in gun season, where they belong if you still want to have a muzzleloader season

Muzzleloader season was for blackpowder and pyrodex

Thank you. You just said the quiet part out loud. And proved everything I've said in the past to be true.

1 faster follow up shot
2 no nasty cleaning ordeal.
3 easier for lazy folks.

How many times do you need or get a faster follow up shot with single shot slug guns or rifles?

Just outlaw scopes during muzzleloader season (like they are proposing to do in Arizona) and call it good
Arizona is the last one to drop scopes. Other than Washington that just added red dots and 1x ( good for old eyes). Scope and rangefinder technology was the end of this. Dialing and shooting game at 500 did not fit the intention.

Maybe its Utah not Arizona but one of the western states is on the verge of not allowing scopes anymore

A Springfield 1861muzzleloader can shoot 500 yards with its percussion cap
