So it is painfully obvious that many hunters have an air of arrogance about them......if you don't hunt the way that they hunt....well then you are lower than pond scum......I wonder what the American Indian of yesteryear would think of us....when they used stick and string till the white man came over with guns.....google a parady about mom's on a website called Boygerms.....please go there and watch the video called "The parenting clip"....and tell me that doesn't apply to my main theme.....and how could we make a video like this??? :bash:

Who cares what the American Indian thinks of how I hunt. Why even compare a second society with a wealth of information and technology to one with nothing. I mean I wonder what the cave man thought of the Indians with their uppity bow and arrows and RIFLES

Joshua 24:15
"But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord."

Absolutely.

"Nipple up, ladies, it's on" :D !

The new American Bad A-- hunter - talk about how pure his methods are and then post pics on the internet. I am tired of the attitudes, the arrogance, and all the latest and greatest gear. I have watched duck hunting degenerate into this over the last 25 years and turkey hunting is next.

Well we did tell them a "white lie", pun intended.

Not all tribes did this but I get your point, sort of. I dont idolize a culture that refused to let the lay man read or one that used slavery to help builds its wealth nor the culture that sold its people to slavery (Irish and African).

Indians were very resourceful and early settlers likely would not have made it were it not the help of Indians. It was destiny they were to loose their lands, a matter if time if you will. Those that didnt trade trinkets for land were later forced out by "Great" Presidents. Our own Andrew Jackson is guilty of the Trail of Tears.

But hey, white man about demolished the wild turkey and we later brought then back from the brink of extinction. Its only fitting we get to decide what is traditional and what is not when it comes to killing them.

You're not about duck hunting it's tragic what has happened. Same idiots are now pouring into the turkey world with their BS

Setterman.....if you'll watch the video you will get it.....you are exactly right, who cares how you hunt....end state is are you putting food on the table for your family, which I think was the original intent for the first hunter's.....yet on here and so many other hunting boards I see people that put other's down for their method of hunting....in Alaska it was the stick bow shooters looking down their noses at those with wheels on their toys....I just found it ironic when I saw this video....

Why care about what anybody else thinks, if your legal, are enjoying yourself, and are proud of the animal you take, isn't that what it's all about anyway

I think a lot of times that on the internet it is hard to discern exactly what someone is saying. The inability to hear tone of voice, see facial expressions, etc. makes it tough.

I have opinions on what I enjoy in hunting and fishing. But, I certainly don't think that I look down my nose at others that don't share those same opinions. Likely I've done it their way at some point along the way. My opinions reflect what is important to me at the current time, and are subject to change.

I think part of the problem is that those that have differing opinions try to read in some of the "dissing factor" into the conversations when it really isn't there. As stated, as long as it is legal, it is all good.

It is hard, I know I have been taken the wrong way a few times in the deer hunting forum and I'm sure I have misunderstood something someone as said also. Bottom line is if you are happy with your kill and your method then don't worry about what others think.

AT Hiker you make it sound like the white man took land from a peaceful loving tribe. Read the original letters of Lewis and Clark. Tribes constantly fought each other and had slaves. White man had the strongest "tribe" and got the land. No culture is innocent in its History. I did a little research myself before feeling guilty about my race and culture. You should do the same. And no you have not researched, you may have read about someone's opinion about history, but read the original letters, articles, and news papers.

Your right; when I was standing at the grave of Sacagawea outside of Lander, WY, or camping under the "Apache Moon" in West Texas, and admiring the Black Hills of SD that the historic Lakota Tribe thought of as so sacred I was simply sight seeing. The historical significants never once crossed my mine.

I will make sure tonight to high light a few quotes from the journal collection of Lewis and Clark, Roosevelt's Wilderness Warrior and my favorite, Tales of the Mountain Man. After all these are all "opinion" based books collecting dust on my bed side table...

I never once said the Indian was not a ruthless warrior or savage. I was specifically pointing out the fact that not all Indians traded lands for trinkets and whiskey. More to the point is that this discussion was about hunting turkeys, and some Indians were very good at it but still irrelevant to how we hunt them today. Why you thought what you did I don't know, but thats not what I meant.

Maybe I touched a nerve when I mentioned the Trail of Tears, if so then I will not apologize. Facts are facts, the 5 civilized tribes had some really good land and we wanted it. Jackson pushed the Indian Removal Act of 1830 and sent them on their way, albeit not lacking resistants. Yes, these civilized tribes owned African slaves just as their white counterparts but still irrelevant on how he forcefully removed the Indians despite victories within the Supreme Court against Georgia.

Sorry for the highjacking.
