I finally got to go shoot some, first time since September of last year. I started from 100 yds, getting my data recorded for each distance, then, after 800 yds, I estimated my dial up for 1000, which I had never been able to find time for before. After shooting steel 1 shot, I was confident enough to move to the electronic target. A couple tweaks later, I cleared the pad and shot for group. 3 shots at 1000 yds, using hunting bullets, Nosler Ballistic Tips 180 grain, and netted a .4 MOA group. Extremely happy with my first attempt for group at 1000. :)

Andy, this is my "out West" hunting setup. Not using match bullets, but rather low BC Nosler Ballistic Tips in 180 grain wt. Nikon 5x20x50 PS7 sits atop my Remington Model 700 Sendero 300 WinMag. The load data consists of 75.5 gr of RL 22, R-P multiple fired brass cases, and CCI LR primers. I'll likely never take such a shot at an animal, but nice to know if ever there came a time where such a shot was required that it was within my realm of capabilities. :)

Nice shooting my fine as frog hair friend! Don't let the distance get in your head, if you can range it, dope it, get solid, you can kill it. That's what I tell people all the time when they try long range. It doesn't matter if its 100 or 1000, you do your part and the rifle will do its part.

Ive took several people out west with me antelope hunting that didn't THINK they could kill anything past 200 yards. I would range the animal, dial the dope, set my rifle up, then tell them to get behind it and kill that antelope. To a person their response has been "I cant kill that!" My answer has always been "you do your part, that rifle will do its part". LOL I had one guy say all that and after killing a doe at 650 yards, before he even got up, he asked how much I wanted for my gun. I told him it wasn't for sale but its just a gun. He said "No, Im buying this rifle!" I told him "some things aren't for sale Donnie, that rifle is one of them."

Yes sir, I've bedded the action on this rifle and have listened to all of the info on shooting technique from friends who shoot and instructors who do it for a living. I like to think I've learned a little! :D

Great shooting!!!

have u tried 180accubonds? Do they have same poi?
Actually I would use the Accubonds in a hunting situation. The ballistic tips are what I develop my loads with for use with Accubonds, since they have the same BC. I've not shot at that distance yet with an Accubond, but I plan to as soon as I can to verify the load.

Just remember, when you go out west youll have to take off some yardage or use one of those new fangled apps like strelok pro that does it all for you as long as you have a signal on your phone. Ive got strelok pro and a weather meter that hooks via Bluetooth and it works deadnuts on as long as it can get signal.
