1000 yds at Dead Zero

Used to my range being prone off my equipment trailer or shooting off my old wooden bench. All it costs me is my time and ammo. I have a spot shooting into the bottom I can get to 300.

What does a person pay for a couple hours at such a range?

Well, now you got me all confused again. :) I was confident that I was seeing real stuff there based on real holes in paper but now you are making me think again that there is some kind of sensor determining where the bullet is hitting instead. I'm going to go out this weekend and shoot some tin cans with my single action Colt Peacemaker to try to get over this high tech confusion. IF it goes CLUNK and falls you hit it. I can understand that! LOL
I am not trying to be critical of dead zero I hope you understand that. That only happened to me one time and I caught it and had to sight in two rifles all over again. The target said I was hitting the center. I was shooting a really good group 8 inches high and 4 inches to the left. I finally determined this by shooting at the corner of the paper and not seeing any holes appearing Where the iPad said they were. The rangemaster quickly calibrated something whatever it was he did. And I Corrected the scopes on both rifles. A little waste of ammo and a good learning experience. All fun for me!

I finally got to go shoot some, first time since September of last year. I started from 100 yds, getting my data recorded for each distance, then, after 800 yds, I estimated my dial up for 1000, which I had never been able to find time for before. After shooting steel 1 shot, I was confident enough to move to the electronic target. A couple tweaks later, I cleared the pad and shot for group. 3 shots at 1000 yds, using hunting bullets, Nosler Ballistic Tips 180 grain, and netted a .4 MOA group. Extremely happy with my first attempt for group at 1000. :)
Is that a app you are using to record?

where is there a 1000-yard range in Tennessee?

PossumSlayer's comments reminds me of the joke about the blonde who insisted Kansas City was further away than the moon because "duhh! you can SEE the moon!"
It's about 950 yards from my shooting house to the far end of the field so I'm aware of how tiny a target is going to look at that distance. Intimidating to say the least. :)

The 210 lb buck I shot at over 400 yards last year looked like a small doe even in the 12x scope.

Great shooting!!!

have u tried 180accubonds? Do they have same poi?
Here's my comparison from NBTs and NAB's today. The low right hole was from a fouler, then I shot 1 NBT and then 1 NAB. Virtually the same hole at 600 yds.

Awesome. I've got some 140 accubonds and 140 BTs. Hopefully they'll be similar as I'd hate to waste all my ABs on paper

Yes sir it is! I've taken 3 bucks with handloads so far, 2 with my 30-06 and 1 with my 300WSM.
Have killed a slew of vermin with my .223 loads from crows and black vultures, to possums and yotes at ranges out to 200 yards, to a load of beaver in the river with the tipped varmageddons. Nice sense of satisfaction, but none quite as satisfying as the deer.

Have managed to kill 3 bucks with my 308 loads, all bang flops. Very impressed with the eld x over imr 4350 out of my 700 varmint stainless fluted.

I have lost count of the deer my girls have killed with my .243 loads out of my wife's little savage.

There is also Elk River Training Center north of Monteagle near Pelham and further away, Strategic Edge east of Chapel Hill. I have no idea of their daily requirements or costs. I know that SE has a fairly long membership waiting list.

I'm taking a one day long range precision class at SE in April and a two day at Elk River in June. The two day class is a "Big If" because I need 220 rounds of 175 grn .308, which I don't have and don't know if it will be available at a decent cost by then. Right now, I can get 11 boxes (220 rounds) for about $385, which is over half the cost of the class ($600). Counting the class, ammo, travel and overnight stay, I'm at about $1100-$1200 for a two day class. Ouch.
