What caliber? Didn't see it stated. Nice group. BTW, 1,000 yards is farther than most people would walk for a free meal.
Remington Model 700 in 300 WinMag. I gave a detailed description of the recipe a couple posts down in reply to Andy S.What caliber? Didn't see it stated. Nice group. BTW, 1,000 yards is farther than most people would walk for a free meal.
Yes sir. LR magnum primers didn't produce consistent accuracy for me in this rifle. On the advice of a couple of friends, I switched to LR primers and found better consistency with my groupings. You really are fortunate to find that jug of RL 22! I'm looking myself!Hey Mup, good shooting! One question for clarification, you used LR primers and not LR magnums? I've got a new to me 300 WM that I'm getting ready to start load development on and just snagged 5 pounds of RL 22
Yes sir. While I likely will never get any of my firearms to a range where I can test quite that far, it is most definitely a rewarding feeling working on your load and getting it just right. Putting together a rig that is running tight groups is no doubt a rewarding feeling as well. The best feeling, for me anyway, is that I've been able to shoot a good group with a hunting bullet at that distance, and not so much a target bullet.
Yes sir it is! I've taken 3 bucks with handloads so far, 2 with my 30-06 and 1 with my 300WSM.Heard good things about the strelok app, but have not downloaded it. Only have the caldwell app for my chrony. Pro version of strelok is a pay app?

Also pretty cool killing animals with your handloads. Just something different for me with the satisfaction.
Way cool. Hitting a target at 1,000 in such a rush. Nice grouping as well.I finally got to go shoot some, first time since September of last year. I started from 100 yds, getting my data recorded for each distance, then, after 800 yds, I estimated my dial up for 1000, which I had never been able to find time for before. After shooting steel 1 shot, I was confident enough to move to the electronic target. A couple tweaks later, I cleared the pad and shot for group. 3 shots at 1000 yds, using hunting bullets, Nosler Ballistic Tips 180 grain, and netted a .4 MOA group. Extremely happy with my first attempt for group at 1000.
You know where the 500 yd range is over toward McMinnville right?Very nice, Steve! I love to shoot out to 250, but some day I'll try 500+
Yessir. Dan has told me about it. We need to go out there sometime and shoot together... when I can get past the to-do lists from my dad and other brother. You know where the 500 yd range is over toward McMinnville right?
Yes I've heard of it, but haven't been yet.Isn't there a good range in Pelham?
Also nice shooting!!
Did you do this up at Dead Zero? Been wanting to try their range out.I'm still learning the more high tech aspects of the addiction LOL but the rangemaster did share his data on density altitude with me, 560 I believe it was, and I did write that down with the rest of my data.
Yes sir. I highly recommend going if you get the opportunity.Did you do this up at Dead Zero? Been wanting to try their range out.
