If there was verifiable proof that the limit was necessary, I would be all for it. IMHO, So many times the impetus for the limit is not for the states hers, it is to attract out of state hunters to purchase tags for a "trophy". They get caught up in the bureaucracy where everything is for the bottom line and not what is best for the people of the state and the deer herd health.
Just kind of surprised more folks didn't disagree with the opening statement right off without having to read all the supporting statements that followed. For reference guys, I don't think it should be changed either. A buddy sent me that and was very opinionated in support of 1 buck, i just wanted to see what the consensus here was.
You don't have the deer density but you're claiming a buck to doe ratio that is that unbalanced??I have places you can literally sit for three weeks straight and not see a doe, but can see a different buck every sit. All these shoot a doe for meat let the bucks alone, 1 buck limit folks dont have a clue what their saying. It would be detrimental to alot of east tn properties to replace yet another buck tag with a doe! I just dont have the deer density on most of my places to shoot another doe.
I'm not for a reduction in buck limits or an earn a buck but before a jump to a one buck tag, I would be for the second tag to be an earn a buckYou must be talking to those other than east Tennessee guys . You'd be very fortunate to kill two does and why because I've let does walk for years hoping to build up the herd.
Im claiming i see way more bucks than does yes, because i know where they cruze these mountains going between farms that do hold some does. To actually sit and see does doesnt happen. If you take away another buck tag than yes my freezer is screwed because we cant afford to shoot another doe on a lot of these mountain properties. Could i go to certain ag properties around me and see more does yes, do i have permission, no. So it isn't actually the balance is so bad off its me personally i dont have the places that hold does just cruzing bucks. You don't have the deer density but you're claiming a buck to doe ratio that is that unbalanced??
You should have a great opportunity to grow some good bucks then?
I'm in NE county and no where I hunt has a buck to doe ratio anything close to yours
If your wanting a small buck(guaranteed )or the occasional good buck(that i cant promise) than i say deal i love summer sausage made from doesI'm not for a reduction in buck limits or an earn a buck but before a jump to a one buck tag, I would be for the second tag to be an earn a buck
I hunt counties in NE Tn and seeing does isn't a problem!
Properties around me are over run with large doe social groups that push most young bucks away
If you guys are seeing so many more bucks than does, maybe we could work a trade, you come here on doe days and take a couple and I will come to you and take a buck hahahahah just teasing of course but it's that bad where I hunt
