Another NASCAR interest question

With the other thread regarding loss of interest of NASCAR on tv, I wonder what ticket sales look like?
I wonder if the lack of interest shows with fewer fans?
Just curious.
 
I, of course, have no way of knowing, officially. However, if crowded roads have anything to do with ticket sales, I would say that they are holding up pretty good. I had the misfortune of going up I-29 from Kansas City shortly after the end of the Kansas race this year, and it was bumper to bumper, two abreast all the way into Iowa/ Nebraska. Wendy's on the Nebraska/Iowa line was full of sunburned people wearing "their hero's" logo tee-shirts. Also, my daughter lives in sight of the Texas motor speedway, and commented that everything in the area beginning on Friday of race-week was jammed up(roads, shopping malls, etc.).
 
I dont know the official numbers but I can say I had more fall bristol tickets offered to me than normal this year. My guess its like TN football, ticket sales(season ticket holders) are close to the same but actual turnstile is down. It will be interesting this year with economy in the tank if people let there season tickets go at Bristol.
 
No doubt NASCAR is feeling the effects of the bad ecomony . I have read where several teams will be merging or dropping teams ,and the possibility of Ford and Dodge pulling out of the truck series .
 
For me,. i had rather go to a race than watch on TV. BUT,.. i liked watching on TV for many years,.. but now its comercial every 2 minutes. How many times you seen a channel go to a commercial right on 2nd and goal in a football game. Heck,. even 3rd and 21 they don't go to commercial. Thats killing nascar on TV in my opinion.
 
Its not just the economy that is hurting NASCAR.

It is a lot of things- taking races from its base here in the
south has hurt. Back a few years ago when it became the hot
sport and just a fad ticket sales were up.


There are not any characters left either. They have gone soft.
You cant race the way racing is supposed to be.

And on and on. I usually wind up with a dozen night race tickets
plus mine and this year I couldnt give them away.

If they had to close californina, chicago, kansas and some of
these other boring tracks I wouldnt care a bit.

NASCAR has hit its peak and its going downhill

Good point . NASCAR alienated their core race fans by trying to add tracks in more lucrative TV markets . They need to get back to their roots and focus on the fans that brought them to the top .
I think they are making a mistake not holding a Cup race at the Nashville or Kentucky speedways . They will never compete with the NFL in any TV market , so they need to focus on their core fans .
 
The new point system has hurt the Bristol night race to a degree. It is at the end of the chase and the guys dont want to hurt there cars or finish bad..so it is stay in line and just finish good.
