Best Camo

IMO, the problem with most of the camo I've seen is that the lines are horizontal, not vertical. Original Mossy Oak was on to something I think but too condensed to really be effective at distance. I'd have to agree with DR that ASAT is probably the best at concealment. Lots of vertical and random lines that you see in the woods, with empty space between.

Most effective I've ever seen in the timber is ASAT....I've wore my set out many years ago...And in the store it's not the most appealing to the human eye....but outdoors I've never seen another camo pattern break up a human silhouette like ASAT...and that's for turkey season to fall deer hunting....the color pallet with layers of of tan, brown and black along with the pattern curves....it just matches the natural environment...all season, all terrain...good stuff.
The best.

No it's not. There are many companies that offer wool hunting shirts. You can also find them easily on ebay.

I only wear wool clothes for hunting. It can't be beat.
Trust me I have wool shirts for cool/cold outdoors. Just being nostalgic about the time frame Fred was talking about before the "bullet proof" orange requirements.

Dad's Woolrich jacket even had a game pouch in the back. I wanted one so bad when I started hunting but because I was growing like a weed it was not in the budget until overcome by the fluorescent orange.

I think most camo patterns are too dark for late fall and winter when the woods are really light gray. I think Sitka has a good pattern. Regardless of what you choose, learn to be still.

A statue in the best camo will still likely get picked off if it's sticking out like a sore thumb, looking like a human silhouette. Last year I had deer within 20 yds of me, no, probably more like 10 yds, on the ground and never spooked. Both times with orange on, both times sitting or standing in front of a big stump and/or tree to completely break up my outline.

That's the key right there, camo will not perfectly conceal you. Camo aids in breaking up the human silhouette it helps if you pick a stand with other things in the background to breakup your silhouette also. Has for me I use Mossy Oak Breakup a lot because that's what Academy Sports carries in their Magellan line. Throw on my old BDU from time to time also which is an underrated pattern or my multicams.
