Best Camo

My favorite was a pattern called skyline apparition. Came in winter color and green. That was 20 yr ago. I think real tree bought them out then shut it down.

IMO, the problem with most of the camo I've seen is that the lines are horizontal, not vertical. Original Mossy Oak was on to something I think but too condensed to really be effective at distance. I'd have to agree with DR that ASAT is probably the best at concealment. Lots of vertical and random lines that you see in the woods, with empty space between.

yep, yep. and yep.

I'll also add from what I've seen lately on the shelves, most of your camo makers have never seen or spent much time in the eastern woodlands in fall or winter, and couldn't make a good ground camo if they had to. And like Redblood said I wear camo for people, not the deer.

You wouldn't. Nor would you need it when sitting in a blind or shooting house. You wouldn't need it when you're so far away that a deer can't see you, anyway. I've seen several threads showing off bucks that were killed hundreds of yards away. If you're killing a deer that far away you could be wearing an outfit that would make RuPaul envious and it wouldn't make a bit of difference.

Where camo might offer some advantage is for bow hunters who have to be dang near spitting distance from deer before they can shoot it. A bow hunter doesn't just simply control breathing while they pull a trigger from 300yds away. They have to get into position and draw that bow all while the animal is virtually point blank. Many, many times the deer will pick out that movement and look straight at the hunter. If it interprets a human shape or anything it cannot identify then it's gone and so are your chances at a shot. Well chosen camo in that instance can make a notable difference. A buck I shot this year was inside 5 steps of me at one point before I shot it and I was on the ground. He looked straight at me for several seconds to determine I was not a threat, then ignored me. Being statue still, on one knee, having a 4ft diameter oak immediately behind me, and my camo made the difference. I had no cover. The camo and my knelt stance while holding my bow outstretched is all I can figure made me seem like a big lump on the side of a tree or part of a fallen branch. Had I moved a wink he'd have bolted. Had I been standing I think he'd have bolted. Had I looked unnatural in any way he'd have bolted. I'm 110% sure the camo helped. Maybe not the biggest factor but it did factor and in a moment like that, every edge counts.
For bow hunting yes. I was referring to gun hunting, hence the fluorescent orange

Best camo……..,
Upper of one style
Bottom of a different pattern
Hood, hat, upper whatever a totally something odd from other 2
Gloves, change again from the other 3…..
Sit still!!!!!!!!

Camo patterns are to sell clothing to hunters. That said, my favorite was the original treebark. Because I'm almost always in a treestand in a white oak tree, treebark was the perfect match. Still have my original cotton treebark jumpsuit. Don't wear it, but still have it. Cotton kills.

I also agree with others that say the best hunting clothes are those that are warm, so you don't fidget in the cold. For that, I LOVE my MT050 bibs and parka.

I think camo is overrated. I have hunted a lot in duck brown coveralls. Have has deer get close and smell me, but could not locate me. However I never wear blue when hunting.
