This morning I set out after another long beard at the same place where I got one yesterday. Not going to go into details about the hunt, but I will say it was just as awesome if not more so than yesterday's hunt. It just didn't end as well...
All I can say is......If you're a turkey within my sight then you'd better not fan out and gobble with a long beard then follow him behind a tree and some brush and then be the first to stick your head out of the other side! This guy made that mistake and boy did it suck to watch the Tom that was with him fly out of the other side after I made the shot! I'll take it though! At least I know there are no less than 3 more good sized Toms wondering around out there. When I shot I saw 3 LB's fly up (one of them being the one I mistaked this jake for). Heck, there might have been more than that. That's the crappy part about hunting on the side of a hill waiting for them to come up. You don't see them until they're on top of you.
It's hard to tell from the picture, but his beard was actually right at 4". So he was getting there
