I've never been on the Collins River, but was considering taking an overnight trip and do a couple days fishing with a friend out of our kayaks. Anyone care to share some insight on how the fishing is along the collins in the late may/early june timeframe? We will be fishing for smallmouth and really anything that will bite. Also where would be best to put in and take out? We are catch and release so I promise we won't take any fish from any honey holes haha!

May and June the fishing should be good. I would advise you to thrown shallow running crawdad colored crankbaits, jigs, rooster tails, spinner bait. Dont be surprised if a musky takes hold. That river is full of them. As far as put in/ take out. I am not very sure with an over night. The VFW is where a lot of people take out but its an easy half day float to there.

Pretty much anywhere on collins is good fishing. just stay above hennessee bridge because it is real slack water down that way
