I was wondering what water temps are ideal for crappie. What temps are they more aggressive. And what temp brings on the spawn.

dont know what you mean by ideal temps, but they are plenty active from 50-56 drgrees and will be in pre spawn mode gorging on baitfish. when water temps hit 57(on KY lake) for a solid week, usually puts them in spawn mode. the water temp has to be consistent, not up and down. good luck timing it, i took a week of vacation the first week of April in case the peak spawn happens a couple weeks early as some of the guides are saying may happen with mild temps.

yeah those are general spawn temps i think. steve mcadams typically says about 60-62 generally on KY lake.

was looking over the KY lake guide reports this evening and they have been catching them in 2-4 ft of water in the afternoons when the water temp is about 58. hopefully these cold rains will push them back on the creek channels and flats for at least long enough for the water to rise.

i use these 2 sites for current water temp on KY lake, the USGS tool you can look up the codes for other lakes if they have a monitor station on them:
