Crimson Tide R.I.P.

He will probably announce his new job as soon as I post this, but I don't see him moving. I think he's happy at Ole Miss. He's building a great program in spite of the difficulty of recruiting/buying players there. He's already tried the move to his dream job and failed miserably. Oxford is a great place to live. Ole Miss fans aren't like the inbreds in Tuscaloser that worship a successful football coach like sane people worship God (I bet he can go out to eat with his family without being mobbed). I really think he wants to prove he can win big at Ole Miss and he's already getting close. So......look for a presser this afternoon when he will announce he is leaving Ole Miss.
"IF" he was a canidate for the auburn job he probably should have taken that one.

Not sure he was ever in line for it though.

He missed another great hire at Texas A&M but not sure they would have considered him either. No state Income tax there would have gotten him another 5% raise right there.

By all reports he was never even considered for the ALABAMA job. If he was holding out hope for that job the message is clear. He is not welcome at ALABAMA.

The Michican job will be open very soon most likley and I am sure his name will be thrown out there AGAIN. Doubt he will be seriously considered but you never know.

And that was alabama's loss. He is a phenomenal football coach and would've been a perfect fit. But, they got their man. DeBoer has an impressive resume as a head coach. Well, impressive if you count his Div 3, junior college, high school, and peewee coaching wins. In 1991 he led the Milbank Marauders 7 year old peewee team to a regional title. You just don't find experience like that everywhere.

Very pleased and Happy with the DeBoer Hire and I do appreciate you spelled his name correctly :)

Unlike the miserable dumpster fire the vols went through during its coaching search debacle ALABAMA spend less than 50 hours and found DeBoer. Greg-Byrne certainly has a clearer picture of how to get things done thats for sure.

You are one of the few alabama fans I've seen or heard that are happy with him. Especially after he hired his old buddy from Southeastern Alabama Welding School to be his DC. But you are consistently dishonest so I doubt you are really happy.

Its a smart hire when you think about it. Kane Wommack KNOWS ALABAMA and the south. He knows the kids in it and can help DeBoer keep Sabans chain of HS hirings going through that channel while DeBoar can keep his track record moving in a positive direction and focus on recruiting through the portal. Hes done a fantastic job thus far with Washinton recruiting through the Portal. I think the hire its a win win for him. Anyone that cannot see that is clearly looking through shaded lenses.

I'm happy with Coach Deboer. Time will tell how good he is. I listen to several interviews and read some about him. So far I like him but time will tell.
I don't think Lane Kiffin was considered at Alabama but I think he's a great coach and has done a great job at Ole Miss. I really think he would have fit in great at Tuscaloosa and I think he would win Championships for Bama.
He's who I wanted for the coaching job.
Since he didn't go to Bama I hope he stays at Ole Miss.
Deboer might be a better hire or he might be worse. I haven't done the research that Spurhunter has on him but he seems to be a good guy. Most Bama fans I talk to support him and are happy with the hire.
Maybe I'm just an optimist but I don't see a dumpster fire.

Spin it any way you want. This isn't 1950. Schools don't recruit regionally. They recruit nationally. We have these things that fly now. I think they are called airplanes. Who gives a rat's ass if he knows alabama? alabama was going to get those kids anyway. For decades the high school talent has been in Florida and Texas. Spoiler alert: If you can't coach and can't win the elite players won't come. Maybe Wommack is the greatest DC that ever lived, or maybe he's not. All we KNOW is he has 2 years as DC at Eastern Illinois, 2 years as DC at South alabama, and 2 years as DC at Indiana. The other thing we KNOW is if Tennessee had hired this clown you would have started 8 threads saying what a joke it was, but since it's alabama it's the greatest coaching hire since the Patriots hired Bill Belichick.

The portal just keeps on taking away from bama

Sabans success has been largly by recruiting kids from HS. And yes that has been from local talent and regional talent. Saban picked and choose who he wanted from the portal. DeBoer on the other hand seemes to play it like a fiddle.

Can't coach and can't win? Totally agree with that. Might want to start looking in the mirror there.

I haven't talked to a single person that doesn't like the hire. The only ones I see degrading him has been auburn and tennessee fans. Have a few out of conference buddies that think it was a dangerous fit. Time will tell. Staying optimistic.

Ive never seen the vol fanbase so excited and engergized about a coach leaving a program since Kiffin ducked out of Knoxville overnight :) Its like they have something to live for now or something LOL

I think he's handling the situations as well as he can. Some of the existing players have already bought in. He's bringing some with him. Locking up some of the recruits we had coming. No one is nick. Although I woulda been happy with lane as well, there's more upside to kalen. Lanes gambling attitude will cost you a game a year, his tweets will rub the fan base and I think you've seen his ceiling.

Honestly make a more fitting applicant that was "available"? Sark and Kirby were the only two that I'd run him out of town for. But they are happy.

Interesting. Believe it or not, I have quite a few friends that are alabama fans and none of them like it. They might say he was the best option available at the time or something like that, but they are not impressed. Obviously they are trying to stay optimistic and see what he can do.

It's not nick. But Kirby is the only one that can be. I just think his capabilities could be enormous. He won at Washington. Over a really good Oregon team. And I think is approach and mentality will allow for some really good assistants if he can establish a winning trend. His back was against the wall this year and I feel some of the staff is "left overs". Play a year, see the holes and improve

Please tell me you aren't impressed with the DC hire.

Maybe @Spurhunter can teach you how to spell it. 😜😂
