Disgusted

I go each year to the NWTF Convention because I enjoy looking at the products for sale, mainly calls and camo but buy very little. It is very funny to watch people stand in line to get a autograph or picture with a famous TV hunter.LOL

Why look down your noses at other hunters ? We have enough people doing that. Lol

I don't consider clowns that use remote control turkey decoys hunters. I realize the primos guys are good and this is just a money thing for them. I bet they were embarrassed to do that show.

I just find it hilarious that if everyone isn't sitting in a circle holding hands and singing a few people get their feelings hurt.

Hunt how you like, cover your truck, gun, and person with stickers/patches, listen to speed metal, glorify the kill, worship tv personalities like Gods, and basically do what makes you happy. Who cares what other people think, after all it's a free country.

But don't get your feelings hurt when someone opposes the things you like. It's not the end of the world.

No feelings hurt here !! Just think it's a not a bad thing to have hunting being promoted wherever it can be !! I don't agree with all the ways they may hunt but, we get enough bad publicity as it is !! No need for other hunters to bash other hunters (even if they are found it the easy way)

The primary things giving hunters bad publicity are other hunters, period.

Inside the hunting community each year a handful of hunters do awful stuff and bring everyone down with them.

Nothing brings the antis running in for blood like a hunter glorifying killing, excessively killing, or promoting the art of killing.

Hunting for food, enjoyment of outdoors, conservation activities, respect for the animals, spending time with friends and family all are things which the majority of antis can understand.

What they don't get, is speed metal cranking up when a tv personality kills something. They don't understand is why skulls are present everywhere now (t shirts, stickers, etc). They don't understand, names like "bone collector" which signify it being cool to kill and have no relation to enjoying the experience rather just how much bone and blood can be spilled.

Go look at a Rage ad, gobbler guillotine ad, or a NAP ad and you'll see our fellow hunters giving the antis all kinds of ammo to use against us.

I'm not one to appease anyone, but I understand how the "cool" stuff in the hunting industry is being perceived on the outside

Totally agree with what you just said.

And most of the hunting shows are not really so much about hunting as they are about killing, promoting some product, and/or an attempt to make the spokesshooter a celebrity so that he/she can be more appealing in the next infomercial.

I glorify every animal I kill so that puts me in the same boat as them !! Every hunter should be thankful for any animal harvested as it is a privilege to have that opportunity....

First off my feelings are not hurt lol if you knew me you would know that. I agree with what you said in the above quoted post But for someone to say dont hunt if you have to use decoys? Really? Or its a shame what decoys have done to turkey hunting? Lol. If it would help get a few more people intrested in hunting i would have 20 decoys lol. I dont have any so it would be a reason to buy some. I also dont have any expensive calls no custom made gadgets only a mossberg 835 and the will to go i have been turkey hunting for only about the last 6 or 7 years and hope to be as good as all you are some day

I never said don't hunt if you have to use decoys, or that it was a shame what decoys have done to the sport. They sure have changed it, but so has a ton of things. I don't like decoys and refuse to use them, but that's me and my hunting style. Am I not entitled to hunt how I like?

I also use custom calls. Not because I like to spend money and flaunt myself as being superior for using them.

I use them because IMO they are superior in sound quality to a production call. Just my opinion again.

I have no desire to get more people interested in hunting. Especially turkey hunting. It's hard enough to find good turkey leases now in west TN and when you do the prices are sky high. You'd be amazed at what I pay for my lease.

Wow guys !! Please use your heads !! They have to promote products because they have to have money coming in to film the shows!! (Sponsors) killing is part of hunting !! I would hope they get excited about harvesting an animal(glorifying) !! Or they would have no business out there!! I really hope they don't stop doing it as I for one appreciate the fact someone getting excited about a harvest... I hate that some of you don't feel the same about relishing every moment after the harvest !!

I didn't say you said those things don't take it so personal they were said in the thread. I did say i agreed with what i quoted geez

Yep, name one time when you saw me kill a turkey out of a blind or over a decoy. You've seen me kill a bunch of turkeys over the years and never seen a decoy involved or a blind. Maybe a rock or stick, haha, but not decoys or blinds.

I do hiding behind a brush pile being pinned down !! And yes it's been to long !! We need to chase some longbeards together again this spring !! I'll leave my decoys at home !!

Here's another perspective.

I'm a fairly good turkey hunter, have some pretty good places to hunt, but most days, I don't kill a turkey. And the days I hunt, often at least 6 hours if not all day.

Yet how many 30-minute turkey hunting shows don't show the killing of a turkey, if not several by multiple hunters? In reality it doesn't come that easy or that often, which is why we call it "hunting".
