Well i should have been. He was hammering on the limb at anything that made a noise.I got within 30 yards on a trail, waited for him to fly down, made some clucks and purrs. Saw that red head peak around the corner at 15 yds. Put my head on the gun and tried to shoot through some brush anddddd i stood up expecting to see a flopping bird anddddddddddd nothing.

Thats two ive missed this year.im kicking myself!!!
 
LoL its a humbling experance for sure. Brush shots will do it to you almost every time. Look at it like I do, you won the game.

not so much in my case with the brush shots... I've killed several through brush, but miss wide open shots because my head isn't down on the gun all the way and/or misjudging the distance.
 
Hindsight is 20/20 but should have let him take two more steps but he was close and i was worried about him busting me so i took my first shot i had. Still hunting for my first mature bird and I get excited. lol :D
