We got excellent dark honey from the Buckwheat I planted in spring last year, plus a great Poplar bloom. This year, didn't plant Buckwheat in spring and had a very poor Poplar bloom. Honey is much lighter in color and not as bold in flavor.I remember a bee keeper in Putnam county that planted buckwheat every year specifically for his bees. He always had good honey. That memory goes back 50 years.
