Have a buddy who has killed three so far with a 410 shootin the tssaa. Killed one stone dead 45 yds. He loves it.
Very believable. It will kill as far as you have the pattern density to effectively pepper a turkeys neck and head. There is no doubt about the penetration part, if you launch TSS at 1100 fps, they will penetrate plenty enough to kill, with most being a complete pass through.tickweed":2fz0rc5k said:..... with a 410 shootin the tssaa. I helped TNL, MB & FC get started and all of their initial orders went through Hal.Roost 1":1im4s9h4 said:Who do you guys order your TSS from???

Sounds like straight from China pricing? What is the minimum order?Roost 1":267yeuds said:........However if I can save $20/lb I'm fixing to.

For what it is worth, I have ordered from 3 guys over the years, but the best correspondence, load data, and turn around time has been with Hal, albeit little steeper on price. I have found other guys that are cheaper per pound, but they usually have a 5 pound minimum and rarely have it on hand to ship the next day (what many want when first starting out).

we usually buy 10lbs at a time.....I already have the data and I can wait alittle while to save a couple hundred dollars. I do like dealing with Hal but $60+/lb is steep.
Same here, but I have not been able to get the newbies to jump in that deep right off the bat. (5-10# orders)Roost 1":3k7gkd6c said:we usually buy 10lbs at a time.....

Last I heard, he was around $45-50/pound. Maybe some of these guys who have purchased recently can chime in with real costs.Roost 1":3k7gkd6c said:I do like dealing with Hal but $60+/lb is steep.
Thanks TNL, about what I thought. Thanks for confirming. It is all about supply and demand too; WHEN you place your order has a bearing on your actual cost. Suppliers know hunters who place an order March/April are usually desperate (need it now), and will typically charge more, whereas same order place in June will be somewhat cheaper (typically, not always).TN Larry":2n6bwy5l said:.... but #9 is no where near $60 per lb right now. It is around $45 give or take a little depending on how much you order. That is shipped cost.
I shot one square in the face at 50 yards earlier in the season with a 1 5/8 ounce load of #9 TSS and it reared straight up and hightailed it across a 30 acre field til it went in the woods. I was surprised it didn't drop on the spot.TheLBLman":3twipyb4 said:Don't meant to sidetrack discussion, but related . . . . . .
How far could you reliably kill a coyote with #9 TSS?
Not that I'm coyote hunting with this,
just that typically have a chance at one while turkey hunting each spring.
I'm kinda torn between going with straight #8.5's vs. straight #9's.
I know some like to mix 8's & 9's, but think I'd rather just go with a single pellet size.
Even considering the straight 8's just to have a better coyote load.
Several have been killed at 45 and under with #9s. 60 yards and under, lots of guys load #5 & #6, and some load #4s for 100 yards and under. The challenge at 100 yards is accounting for drop and ensuring the core of your load finds the mark (his head).TheLBLman":10ea155f said:How far could you reliably kill a coyote with #9 TSS?
