Maybe the WR, I'll take Kirkland, Reevs Maybin, Kelley and the other21

This just came out 5 hours ago. CBS all-American Team. Kind of sums up my original answer to your questions. Fans sometimes get star struck by their own players and forget what other teams might have to offer.... :)

http://www.cbssports.com/college-footba ... am-awards/

UF:
J. Davis LB 1st team
J Tabor CB 1st team
M Maye S 2nd team

UT:
E Berry KR 1st team
C Sutton PR 1st team
D. Barnett DL 2nd Team

That works both ways. Gators and Bammers come in here and act like they are the only ones with good players and TN players are garbage. TN might have had a few downfalls last year and fell short against UF again but TN has got some talented guys. Some guys that are talented that don't get much recognition. I would take Jalen Reeves- Maybin over just about any LB in the country.

I see the Derek Barnett/Myles Garrett comparison all the time. I'd take Barnett in a heartbeat. Barnett has produced as much if not more against better competition. Most of Garretts sacks have been against lower FBS teams or FCS teams. Garrett dont look good playing the run either.

Bama and Gator fans come in here with a combine streak of 20 games in a row against UT. It really doesn't matter what we think about our players... Lol

Oh, right. I'm sorry. I thought this might be the beginning of an actual discussion. Oh well.

Nothing really to say about Barnett and Gareth. Basically spliting hairs. Garrett has 22.5 career sacks and Barnett has 19.

We do not envy a program that woke up one day several years ago and decided to claim a handful of bogus national championships that nobody else recognizes. That 16 is 100% communist propaganda. :smash:

1988 tho [emoji33]

You must have 1988 confused with 1983, because that's the year the Alabama football program sold its soul for fabricated college football glory. 1983 is the year the Bammers magically went from claiming 6 national titles to claiming 11.

Here is the infamous story of the guy who succeeded in brainwashing Bammer nation. To uphold the sanctity of the sport, college football fans should be aware of this history and should dismiss the "16" accordingly.

Got 12? Here's how Alabama bumped up its claim to a dozen national titles

It's time for Bammers to stop living a lie. Saban should do the right thing and correct the record. Until then, the "16'" and whatever numbers follow must be called out for what they are - communist propaganda. :smash:

I have said TN has good talent, but I will continue to say they will never be as good as they can be as long as Butch is there. Barnett is really really good and I think his numbers were down a little last year bcse a lot of teams were double teaming him.

:rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: SOOOOOOOO true!!!!!!!!!!!

Trey, one could say that TN has the talent it has right now because Butch IS there. I know you wont say that but its true.

As far as Barnett goes, once Corey Vereen got up to speed after taking Maggitts place, Barnetts production started picking back up because they couldnt double team his as much. He still got his share of double teams as well as being held a flat out tackled on most plays. Still had 9 sacks.

See where im going with that?

Barnett should hit double digit sacks again in 2016 like he did as a freshman. He was only 1 sack off from getting double digits two years in a row.

With the talent coming off the other side, and up the gut he should see a lot more 1 v 1 this year. Shoop should help to.

If he gets 10+ sacks again he will be a first rounder.

I don't think he has to get 10+ to be a first rounder. Scouts will see his potential

Not ready to say "they will never be as good as they can be with Butch there" but I am definitely in wait and see mode and we should have that answer this year. Butch has proved his recruiting and shown he can have team ready to start game. It is the in game coaching against good teams that has not been proven yet. Not saying he has to make playoffs or win SEC east this year but he can't lose the ones like he did last year.
