Not ready to say "they will never be as good as they can be with Butch there" but I am definitely in wait and see mode and we should have that answer this year. Butch has proved his recruiting and shown he can have team ready to start game. It is the in game coaching against good teams that has not been proven yet. Not saying he has to make playoffs or win SEC east this year but he can't lose the ones like he did last year.

WINNER!!!! U can recruit the best but if u cant coach them like they should it means nothing!! Exactly what I was referring to with TMS but he wanted to throw back at UF.

Good post.

Everybody gets bent out of shape at the way some games ended last year, but what gets lost in the shuffle is that we had a BIG lead against a very good OK team and led Bama in the 4th Qtr. I don't think the coaching staff gets enough credit for that.

None of the "experts", nor most rational fans, expected that. But, when they slipped away, it automatically goes back to poor coaching decisions, right or wrong. Some of that obviously is on the coaches, but some also goes to a lack of depth which impacted stamina, both mental and physical, late in the games. Stoops and Saban know they were fortunate to get those Ws.

Now, the depth is improved this year, so we shall see how that impacts closing games.

Also, our PE coach did a pretty good job calling plays last year :D !

In other words, I didnt say what you wanted me to say so therefore Im hard to talk to.


What I said was we have talent because of Butch. I didnt say anything about winning or not winning BECAUSE of Butch. I agree, he needs to win some big games. Who doesnt? YOU were the one who threw it back to comparing him to Ron Zook.

Going back to GnB CBS AA link and what I said about Jalen Reeves-Maybin.

Maybin had better stats in 2015 than Jarrad Davis. Davis is 1st team and Maybin didnt even make that list?

Maybin had better stats in 2015 than consensus AA and Defensive POY Reggie Ragland. Ragland played more games.

Butch just finished yr 3 at 9-4. Zook got fired in year three after declining from 8-5 in both yrs 1 and 2 and going 7-4.

Butch has been winning with the talent HE recruited. Zook did not.

Im not super impressed just yet Trey but you dont play a full schedule of top 25 teams every year. The other games are played also and the Ws and Ls on those count also. Did Zook take over a team that had lost to Vandy AND UK? I didnt thinks so. Going from that team to this 9-4 team is major imrovement. Thats probably hard for you to admit tho, right?

Why?? Because you cant bring yourself to say that Butch has done a decent,not spectacular but decent job so far? If Butch dont take this team any farther than he has right now, he has at least done a decent job of gettingthem headed in the right direction. He may not. Time will tell.

I think its funny because you try to say that I keep throwing shade at UF( in reality you are the one throwing the shade most of the time)and you cant have a discussion with me but when I try to discuss, you just cant do this anymore.

You don't know football if you think Butch has not been a good coach. I'm just waiting on APP state, ! game at a time!

U haven't heard on shows him being called (well not the way I put it) but close to that?

I havent said anywhere that he is an outstanding coach on a "Saban" level. I have said that he has done a decent job but needs to win more of the bigger games.



I did not come out and agree with you that he is a crappy coach. Maybe thats why you didnt see it. :tu:
