Or whatever the kids are calling it these days continues to be the most idiotic thing hunters are doing these days.

I cannot wrap my mind around what goes through someone's brain that makes them feel this is a great idea.

Not to mention its a long way from true turkey hunting, heck blinds and decoys are more "true" turkey hunting than the suicide attempt.

Won't lie I have done it in the past (full disclosure I did it on private land and didn't have a gun). It was actually pretty cool to see a Tom get pissed and come within 12yds of me laying in a field.

It's not my cup of tea to kill one that way but it was exciting to see one react like that.

No thanks. Have you seen the adapter to put a fan on the end of your gun barrel?
That's exactly what inspired me into post this topic. It's just sad

I would like to try it in a big open field sometime, but I hunt public land so I don't want to die

I've tried it a few times with no success... Got a buddy that has had it work like a charm.. I hunt private land, I know who is there at anytime.. I wouldn't do it on public land but have no problem with it.. It's not why I turkey hunt, but it's something to try on a day they won't answer a thing..

If I only I had a dollar for every idiot that I ran off private ground where I was the only one allowed on the property. Nativity is what's going to get folks killed

It wouldn't surpriseme me if this doesn't get strutters or decoys outlawed in several states when some poor guy gets killed trying this.

I don't see a problem on a very large, open field on private land where any potential trespasser would be well out of gun range anyway.

Seems like it would be fun to try once or twice for the experience. I'm not against it but not in a hurry to try it due to where I hunt.

I would LOVE to see strutter/fan decoys outlawed, but I hope it doesn't take someone getting killed.

Same for me, having cut my teeth hunting Alabama where they were legal until recently I know from experience you don't need a plastic turkey to consistently kill lots of longbeards. Even the ones in fields, we routinely killed henned up birds that spent every waking moment in ag fields that were hundreds of acres and perfectly flat.

I have voiced my displeasure for the addiction turkey hunters have these days to decoys, for years. I bet a bunch would be in real serious trouble if they woke up tomorrow and they were illegal.

With all that said, while they are still legal I can't blame someone for using them as they are effective and won't judge someone for using a tool to help them be succesful.

I will however judge anyone fanning birds as a certified fool and not worthy of being considered a turkey hunter, and not apologize for doing so.
