fav mouth call?

I was big on the Quaker Boy Screeming Green Series until I got on the Wood Haven train. I will use ANY call that i like though, not loyal to any particular brand.

i usually use a knight and hale #146 because it was real raspy does anyone know if they still make them or what call is about the same sound.im looking for a call that is real raspy

I like the h.s. strut mouthcalls because of the tape they use, think its medical tape or somethn. Chesnut ridge makes some good calls also, should check em out if you go to turkey conv.

x2 I like most of H.S. call but this one is my favorite

I have one now so I better get good at it. came with the ez rasp and the double d and I think the ez is too raspy and the double d is real clean, good for practicing, but I could see the raspy old hen becoming my favorite after I get a little more practice.

A raspy call is nice also in the fact that it allows a little more room for error than a clear sounding call.

Yeah it's definitely easier to get a good sound with a real raspy call, but I like to practice getting a clean call with a straight edged 2 reed so I don't get lazy. I just started mouth calls a couple months ago and have been practicing every so often and should be ready in time for the season.
