What area? Sorry to hear, that is exactly why I stopped hunting in the rain. To many times I've had this exact thing happen to me over the years. I hate shooting a deer and not being able to recover it. Makes me sick to my stomach and makes me question myself.

I've never lost a deer any other time. Just in the rain!
 
Shot it in 01 game warden thinks it probably ran into area 7 tho he said that happens quite a bit we searched alot of area and couldnt find it.
 
Monster class buck hanging around the end of the fence in the bean field by woodlawn papa rock seen him at least 10 times from 79
 
That is a tough start to a season... that same thing happened to me last year. I considered not bowhunting after that for a while.I finally found that buck with a few days left in the season and he had a limp, but was mostly healed I believe. (I hit him too far forward). The best you can hope for... other than finding him in the next few days... is for him to recover and produce other bucks in the area.
 
Didnt see much movement this weekend, just a few Deer on the side of the road on my way in the mornings. Trails are worn out but the Deer didnt come through during the day.
Acorns falling onto the dry brittle ground this weekend and I found several persimmon trees but they did not produce this year.
Mosquitos were hungry,chiggers are out in full force, and squirrels are raining down the acorns coyotes howling crows barking.....Deer were asleep somewhere

Sorry to hear that. I was in 07 Sunday morning.

Saw alot in the corn fields sunday evening but no shooters.
Thunder and rain kept me up most of the night.
At 5am still raining.Good morning to sleep in. :grin:

lol... one doe down on the 15th, seen 15 deer total on the 15th, 2 were small bucks.

No,the 20ga. I HAD TO do a string replacement on the bow 3 weeks ago and just never got around to getting it all set back up till this week. Been shooting this week some, should be bow hunting by the 1st of October.
