Gay 270

I bet your two-semunty won't blow the deer's heart plum out the exit hole and leave it on the ground whole! If your wondering about the physics, the bullet passed through, blew a softball sized exit hole, and the bullet was moving so fast that the vacuum behind it sucked the heart out! That's an awesome cartridge my friends!

The 6.5 got a long way to go to catch up with deer kills of a 270. 6.5 is a good caliber, but of the 6.5 caliber options the creedmore is way down the list.
way before the 6.5 cm version there was a Swede military 6.5 that has a cult following alive to this day , always have wanted one just hasn't worked out yet.

there ain't different levels of dead, it is or it ain't, a deer shot dead with a 22 magnum is just as dead as this deer with its heart laying on the ground from your 6.5cm
I have seen this before, did it with a 300 magnum deer was running when I shot him and he didn't even flinch, with lungs and heart outside the body ,never seen a blood trail like that one, blind man could have followed it

I'd have to throw out the flag on this one.

My dad and brother had 270s growing up and I even got one early on when I starting getting my own guns. Just a caliber I never really fell in love with personally. Partially because I hate long actions, and partially because back when I was younger it was SO popular I just didnt want to have what everyone else had. Obviously nothing wrong with it if you like long actions but just never was one I wanted to own.

Not really much different with the 6.5CM at this point. I never cared to have one cause EVERYONE had one.......so I went 6.5PRC which is better then both of them :) Personally like a 7mm08 better then anything but the 6.5PRC has been a fun gun to shoot and use.

The 270 hype was created by Jack O'Connor writing hunting articles about what he had done with the 270 rifle sometime in the 1930's, this was when magazines and newspapers and radio were that generations internet and this put the Winchester great into stardom.
My personal opinion is, this necked down '06 is best deer rifle I've ever used. Just sold a great old Mauser 30'06 because I never used it.
I've shot everything from 243 to 300 win mag and killed deer with them all but always picked my Browning back up , IMO its the best bang for my money, the 270 remains top of my list.
Rifle calibers come and go but there are a few that will still be around when all of us are gone and the 270 is one of those.

If my memory serves me correctly, prior to the 270, O'Connor was a big fan of the 6.5x55 Swede.
I respectfully agree and disagree a bunch. Bullets matter more than headstamps. Not one.270 bullet compares ballistically to 6.5.

Shot placement is always a given.

Having said that, I love my .270 - but for sentimental reasons.

I figured that the bullet technology available for a 6.5 was also available for the .270…
