If the vols win out after the Alabama game (which is entirely possible), that would be a 9-4 season I think if they won a bowl game.
Wouldn't that record keep jones for another season?
The losses the vols have this year were against good teams and we're very close aside from uga. I do think jones is innover his head but 9-4 and I bet he stays.

Just don't rule out Scott Frost.... Hope he doesn't go to TN

Do we have a game this week :D ?

Here is what I know and it mirrors pretty much what was posted by this LWS GUY...

1. Gruden has been in talks with Peyton and Fulmer and is interested. He has spoke with Currie in an informal conversation.

2. UT will meet Grudens demands. UT will make an offer that will make Gruden 1 of the top 5 paid coaches in all of football...Pro or college. If Gruden wants to coach again he won't turn UT down because of not meeting his demands it will be cause he doesn't want to coach. He has been told he can have the budget to get the staff he wants and some of the names are insane so not really sure what to make of that.

3. This whole deal has been in the works as a contingency since early summer should Butch flame out and that's happened.

4. I am totally blown away by the commitment made by UT to get a HR hire. 3 weeks ago I was sure UT would go bargain basement but it appears they are all in...In a big way.

5. I have no idea if Gruden will or will not be the next HC. It's all his decision and Currie and company are handling this the right way. As a UT fan...that's all I can ask.

6. I am NOT some insider that has the ear of boosters or the AD. I got my info from the coaching industry and it's rock solid regarding the major players. It seems to match what others are posting from inside the boosters/AD. The fact that Peyton is involved gives me hope that he will make this happen...that's just my personal opinion. Three weeks ago I was joking about Gruden being next coach but then when I found out they were discussing the possibilities I moved to the edge of my seat. I was also told this time it's different. Gruden wants to coach again and will...just not sure where. The timing is right with Gruden...His family...ESPN and their political views...UT pretty much having the administration in place that would attract a HR hire...the whole ball of wax. If I have stirred up a hornets nest...that wasn't my intention. I ain't seeking approval or looking for e cred. I just like discussing football and UT in particular and this is where I choose to do it. Regardless of who the next coach is at UT I will be here cussing and fussing with the rest of you. I have a good feeling about what I know but I don't know Gruden or what he is thinking. At least UT is committed to winning this time and that's the most encouraging aspect from this whole thing.

I would also like to add that I was told Fulmer would not be the interim. Currie hired Fulmer for one purpose and that's to assist with raising money for the new coach and staff and to help the transition. I guess we will see soon enough. I just wanted to set the record straight about what I know. Right now...I am all excited and all in on Gruden...It's Gruden till it aint.

And so it starts again..... :rotf:

"I was very determined to be a college coach. Then I realized that if I became a college coach I would probably have you on probation within four or five weeks."

"Too many rules, man. I mean I like to work. I don't like to be working 15 hours a week with players. The recruiting, Facebook, texting, e-mails – all that stuff. Yeah, I'd probably have you in real deep, deep trouble if I was your college coach."

Funny that all these comments were made during the negotiations with UT.

I wish everyone would move on from Gruden. I just don't see him as some HUGE hire for UT. He might work out in the end and be the next Saban but the chances of that happening are slim to none. I could appreciate the hire versus the last 3 hires but come on guys, lets be more excited about a PROVEN COLLEGIATE coach. Move along fans, move along

   hire Gruden

Would HATE to see Frost or Petrino end up at TN.

Best case is like someone earlier posted, if he wins out likely keep BJ. Now that is a pipe dream for me. ;)

"Why after Bama? Butch wont be fired mid-season."

-PillsburyDoughBoy about 3 days ago

Yep I said that

Then I said

"A pretty reliable source told me Butchie is done after a ALABAMA loss on Saturday and Gruden is NOT going to be the coach."

I still feel it makes no sense to fire Butchie mid season but then again vols don't seem to do alot of things that are smart. So I guess we will sit back and see who is right and who is wrong in all of this as time goes along.
