I'm not gonna read the rest of the 80+ long winded replies to the other thread, so I thought I'd throw this out there if it hasn't already been mentioned.

There is definitely a glitch in the system, whether it's with online check-in or Hunters Toolbox I'm not sure.

The other day we were sitting at camp and someone pulled up the numbers for the WMA. It came out to only 14 birds, I knew that was BS right away. The next day, the game warden stopped by, and I asked him about it. He went into his truck to look up the numbers and came back with 61, which is about normal for the area.

I don't know what the issue is or if it's statewide, but there's definitely some kind of computer glitch...

If it's a glitch, and I hope it is, it's a consistent glitch.

Was last year a glitch too?

Sorry cat but I'm not buying it. I watched the totals for the counties I checked birds in increase immediately after I logged a kill.

People and I mean anyone using this phantom glitch as an excuse is continuing to bury their heads in the sand as they've done for a decade or more as our sport and population get destroyed

I've been following these threads for quite some time, and I've noticed similar declines in my area (Franklin County/Grundy County) for the last 6+ years. However, I'm somewhat confused by the harvest reports on TWRA's website. i ran the Harvest Biological Data Report for 3/23 - 4/8/19 and it shows that 6,728 turkeys have been harvested statewide. However, when I ran the Statewide Hunter Success Report for the same time frame it shows that 14,030 turkeys have been harvested to this date. I'm not sure what's going on???

A good agency would release some information clarifying what is happening so we all know instead of speculating. Of course, they could just manipulate the data if it's going to look bad on them.

I'm not getting that at all. I run 3 reports (statewide hunter success, Turkey harvest report, biological data). The reports all come back with a range from 6,688 to 6,785.

Regardless if we are doing it the same thing we shouldn't get varying results.

AT, I'm not sure what the problem is. I sat in the woods on Saturday afternoon and I kept coming up with similar #'s. Tried it again last night. I'll go back and look at my search parameters and see I can find the cause of the discrepancy.

I believe there is something wrong with the turkey population, but I also think there is something wrong with the harvest data. Up until now I have been pulling the statewide data and getting #'s in line with what everyone else was getting. When Quailman posted I thought, maybe I should pull some different reports. Results were all over.
All data pulls were done from 3/23-4/8.
From top left to right.
Chart 1 is the total harvest by county (Biological data) 14,789.
Chart 2 is the statewide harvest (Biological data) 6,788.
Chart 3 is a single county pull (hunter success) 242. This bugged me it would not let me pull for every county. Also the # is about 50% of the harvest shown for the county in pull 1.
Chart 4 is statewide (Hunter's success) 6,801.

So the differentiation is between the charts and other reports.
I sure hope the charts are correct.

It's a government website..... I honestly dont expect it to be accurate or up to date, how many are?

I hope this is correct Catman! That would be great news that I am sure everyone would enjoy.

Thanks for the charts Bone Collector.

I know there's a decline in some areas that needs to be addressed but we did not see a statewide harvest drop by 50% in one year. Id even say the population is a little higher in my area than it was the past couple years. The system is messed up somehow, we all know TWRA has had technical issues in the past, looks like another glitch to me.

If it is a glitch (and I hope it is) one of two things is true. Either the people responsible for monitoring and maintaining this information don't even realize it wrong, OR they realize it's wrong but haven't even made a "we're having technical issues with the online harvest data system" announcement. I'm not sure which would be more incompetent.

I ran a report that I posted on the other thread and it shows 14, 812 killed so far. I hope those are the correct numbers. That is just county wide and includes juvenile weekend. I'll am like you Catman and I posted on the other thread, I am seeing and hearing as many if not more in the places I hunt.

For as completely covered up in turkeys as you are and as hard as you stay after them, you would think you would have killed one by now lol. :poke:

So I touched base with TWRA today to have them run the harvest numbers. Based on the information I was given, TN hunters have harvested 14,168 turkeys so far this season.

There definitely seems to be some issues with using the "Hunters Toolbox" on the TWRA website. When I ran the numbers for the Harvest Biological Data Report, it first came back with 6,785 turkeys harvested. When I tried again but hit the "WMA harvests included", it came back at over 14,000. I finally decided to just pick up the phone and call.

Great. Thank you for taking the time to do that instead of just running around screaming "FIRE, WE"RE ALL GONNA DIE"!

I tried to do that last week, but could not get to the right person and gave up.
