Went on to pick the vols to beat bama in Knoxville, but bama to beat them in the rematch in Atlanta.

True, but they play Michigan, and Michigan st. The last two weeks of the season. Dropping a game that late, last two weeks should keep them out.

Bama lost to Ole miss in week 3 in 2015. Went on to win 9 straight games, 5 games after the loss they won by 20+ other 4 games was Arkansas by 13. Tennessee by 5. A&M by 18, LSU by 14.

A team that has a loss, but has rolled off 8 or 9 good wins in a row will get the nod over them.

If they just get beat by Oklahoma early sure they could still get in.
